Melania tries to teach Barron to distinguish right from wrong
Melania takes her role as a mother quite seriously. She talked about her son during a Virginia town hall and said that she tries to instill a strong value system. For example, the first lady says her son does not have social media accounts nor is he interested in those kinds of things. He enjoys spots instead.

She is teaching him to be independent
Now that Barron is older, Melania encourages him to have more independence. For example, last Christmas she allowed him to spend a part of the holidays at the White House without her and then later to fly to Iraq with Donald to visit U.S. troops that are stationed abroad. However, they did spend time together at Mar-a-Lago, which is Donald Trump’s Florida club.

Melania’s relationship with son Barron
Their relationship seems to be very close since she spends much more time with him than Donald. In 2011 she spoke in Mommy Helper Show, in which she said that it is essential to spend time with children so they can see you are involved, and also they need attention.

Melania tries to ensure Barron stable and consistent life
The first lady was concerned about Barron adjusting to life in the White House when Donald became the president. That is why she didn’t move to the White House immediately. She decided to wait for Barron to finish his school year, so they stayed in their New York home at Trump Tower. Barron is currently attending St. Andrew’s Episcopal School in Potomac, Maryland. It is an odd choice since every president’s child went to Sidwell Friends for the last 35 years.

Donald isn’t much involved in parenting
When he did an interview with Larry King in 2005, just before Melania and he got married, he said that his wife would take all the parenting duties. He even joked that he probably wouldn’t even see the child. Later, in one of her interviews, Melania said that Donald didn’t change the diapers or make the baby food, but she is completely fine with that. She says that you should know the person you are with and do what works for you.
