5 Must-Bring Camping Essentials
Knife
Yes, this may sound funny, but according to AWE365’s wild camping gear tips blog, a lot of people go out camping without a solid knife. Counting on some cheap multitools or fake Swiss Army knives. Alas, math is often unjustified. That’s why you need to take a proper survival knife with you. Because you just never know! And with such a device, you can chop up the firewood, cut a sausage, or even set up a tent. More than that, cutting paracord or fabric with it is much easier, let alone self-defense. Long story short, without a knife there’s just no way around it. It’s essential to even for ladies.
Ideally, though, you would have at least stocked up on some firewood before heading out on your backcountry adventure. According to the experts at Splitz Firewood, a few pieces of split firewood may be enough to get the campfire going but you need a lot more before it is big and strong enough to cook your meal
Headlamp
Now that’s another thing you need for any camping trip. Especially for the one that may take a longer time. It doesn’t weigh much, it’s solid and functional and above all, it doesn’t need your hands. Admit it, it’s much better to work when the area is illuminated directly without any dancing shadows. Moreover, it’s much more convenient to walk through a night forest with nice lighting and free hands. And you just never know what kind of a need may arise. So choose yourself a good headlamp and be sure to put it in your backpack before you go out.
Wind – and waterproof clothing
Alas, rainmakers can’t be fully trusted yet. Yes, their forecasts are more accurate these days, but that’s still not enough. Especially for those who got caught in the rain when they promised “partly cloudy”. This is when you need either a raincoat or impervious to water clothing. The first one is easy, the second – versatile. That’s because the last one shows a very high capacity for heat retention and consequently is better for spending the night in the open. So, it’s best to always have a lightweight waterproof windbreaker in your backpack if anything.
Portable gas burner
Surely, any experienced survivor will make a fire in a tropical area in the pouring rain. Ordinary people, though, prefer simple but more technological methods. A portable gas burner is an effective substitute for a campfire. Especially when you have neither time, nor desire, nor opportunities for the last one. It’s going to keep running even in the rain when there’s practically no chance to find any dry wood. Keep in mind, though, that some gas burners expose harmful gases during the work process.
Trekking boots
Particularly among hikers “trail shoes” or trekking boots are pretty popular these days. These are relatively lightweight, enhancing air circulation and providing moisture/dirt protection footwear. Wearing such, it’s quite difficult to get swell up and sweaty feet or corns. And that’s what matters when you need to walk a lot. There are different varieties – with or without a rigid ankle and foot fixation, soft or extra strong sole, different colorings and designs. And of course, paracord for laces. Just in case, plus it looks tight.
If you have all of the above in your arsenal, there’s nothing that can stop you from having a good time out in the open – you will have an effective solution for all sorts of issues. You can, of course, comment down below if you have something else to add. We’re always glad to know your opinion!
For regular people, though, going out to the woods without immersing themselves too deep into personal security, this bare minimum is quite enough.
