I pride myself on my vast knowledge of celebrities, particularly their love lives. Ever since my grandmother handed me a tattered issue of The National Enquirer as a young lass and affectionately called it “The Trash,” celebrity gossip has been my guilty pleasure. So, I’m always more than a little surprised when I find out two stars dated and no one bothered to tell me. This morning, I was perusing a great Tumblr called “Old Loves,” featuring photos of celeb couples who once dated, and found eight I had no idea about. Like Brad Pitt and Thandie Newton, who dated after he split from Juliette Lewis. The two met on the set of “Interview with a Vampire,” in which she played his maid. They make an attractive pair, don’t they?

It seems Paula and Uncle Jesse were straight up in love in 1991. He has said that if not for the media attention their pairing attracted, they would possibly still be together today. Tear.

In the context of this slideshow “dated” could very well mean “went on one date and decided to just be friends” which is likely what happened between these two. Still, look at them! I think they make a rather matchy-matchy couple. And the affection between them remains, as Winona gave her first TV interview in six years on Jimmy’s show.

Nick Cannon & Kim Kardashian

Before fathering “dem babies” with Mariah Carey, Nick Cannon dated Kim Kardashian in 2006. When Kim split from husband Kris Humphries after 72 days of marriage, Cannon was among the first to slam the star and said she did it for the money. So, I take it these two aren’t friends?

I don’t think there’s any bigger indication of how NOT twee I am than the fact that I didn’t know the Manic Pixie Dream Girl dated the Crown Prince of Hipster Cinema from 2003-2005. Adorably, according to Who’s Dated Who, the two are the same height. I wonder if they shared clothes?

Adam “Ad Rock” Horowitz & Molly Ringwald

I was both surprised and not surprised to discover that my favorite Beastie Boy dated Molly Ringwald. Surprised because, duh, I had no idea, and not surprised because he has a history of dating incredibly cool women, including Kathleen Hanna from Bikini Kill and Le Tigre and Ione Skye.
