We always have this idea of how the famous are also very rich people. But as some have stated recently, Angelina Jolie might not be as rich as we think.
Jolie has an estimated net worth of $100 million, so how is it that she isn’t as rich as she seems to be?
Reports about Jolie being broke
In 2018, TMZ stated that Angelina Jolie confessed to having money issues in her court documents. Since she hasn’t worked for over a year now, she doesn’t have the money to continue to live as luxurious as she did by now, nor can she provide the same thing to her six children. An insider claims that she can wait for the production of Maleficent 2, to cash in on that paycheck.
Brad Pitt loaned her money
In the court documents, mentioned above, also says that Jolie requested a financial support from her ex-husband, Brad Pitt. Since the couple didn’t sign a prenup, they both had their own wealth coming into their marriage. Brad Pitt is worth around $300 million, which is a lot more than what Angelina Jolie has. She requested an $8 million loan to put down a $25 million property for her and their children. Brad Pitt gave her the money since she could find another financial source. Jolie’s lawyer issued a statement in which was Jolie’s desire to buy a new property.
“Following the incident of September 2016, Angelina and the children needed to move from the family home, which Brad chose to keep, including all of its contents,” Samantha Bley DeJean explained. “Brad was asked to assist in the expense of a new home for Angelina and the children, but instead he loaned Angelina money, for which he is charging her interest on a payment plan. Angelina will of course honor that loan.”
Regarding Jolie’s claims that Pitt didn’t pay child support, “Angelina is asking Brad to pay 50% of the children’s expenses. He has not,” DeJean revealed. “Angelina has had to shoulder the majority of those without his contribution for the past two years. Child support is not optional in California.”
What is actually happening?
We can assume that she is not broke. Her funds are probably locked up in trusts and investments that she can’t access at the moment.
