A big reason everyone tunes in with Grey’s Anatomy is all the ships that are featured in the show. Let’s not forget that this show began with Meredith and Shepard hooking up which then lead to one of the best romances on TV. The hospital from the show has always been full of sexual tension – it used to be called Seattle Grace and now it is Grey Sloan Memorial. But when a fan favorite couple seem like they might be in trouble, fans start to wonder if that means their relationship is going to end.
We all know that Alex Karev is one of the 4 characters that have been on the show since season 1. Throughout the many season of the show he has had his share of romances and hookups. Some of the hookups being the nurse Olivia and the ex wife of Derek Shepard – Addison Montgomery.
He might be seen as the bad boy of the show but he has had a couple of serious relationships too. Izzy Stevens, with who he has an up and down relationship, marries her, but they and up getting a divorce and she leaves the show. He also had relationships with Meredith’s little sister Lexie and Lucy Fields, a OB/GYN.

Viewers of the show were big fans of his relationships with both Izzie and Lexie but everyone shares the opinion that his current relationship that he has with Jo is the best one he has had so far. They got to know each other slowly while she was still an intern and her difficult past was revealed more and more which was something the couple bonded over since they had similar experiences in life.
Even though this relationship was his healthiest it didn’t come with no conflicts. They almost ended things after Jo didn’t accept his marriage proposal, and because of a misunderstanding Karev attacks another doctor from the hospital – Andrew DeLuca. For awhile it seemed like everything was going good after her ex boyfriend who abused her died and they got married. Jo even changed her last name to Karev.

Until a recent episode in season 15 the information we knew about Jo was that she was left at a fire station when she was a baby and then grew up in the foster system. She worked super hard to get through medical school and lived in her car while doing that. We also know that she changed her name so that she could run away from her crazy ex boyfriend Paul. Besides that she doesn’t talk about her past at all, well, up to this point.
In season 15 she tries to look for her birth mother and ends up finding out she was a product of rape, and that was the reason her mother gave her up and couldn’t raise her. She also learns that her birth father died in a car accident.
Both Jo and Alex have been through difficult times in their lives, and we hope they will stay together. After Jo learns about her parents she goes home and gets very drunk, she refuses to talk about what happened and won’t even talk to Alex. He tries to make her open up, trying different things but nothing seems to work. The next day she goes to work still drunk and that is were Alex confronts her and says he won’t let her keep things from him anymore. The episode ends with them arguing.
