Create a budget
Everything revolves around budget because regardless of what you might want or think that would look nice, it would all be for nothing if the tiles or essentials cost too much. This doesn’t mean we cannot design and remodel our bathroom to our taste and stay within a budget, but knowing precisely how much money we can spend on remodeling is crucial for several reasons. For starters, it keeps us from spending too much just because we see something that ‘looks nice.’ Also, it helps us make decisions and go with things and features that will actually be useful. This second one is even more important because when renovating the house, we can easily get carried away and buy things we don’t really have use for.
Once we have determined the budget, another goal is to stay within the budget. Now, for those who are aware that they will cross that fine line, there is a little trick – create a smaller budget. Yes, this might sound silly, but you would be surprised at how functional this is. Namely, even if we spend more than planned, we will still not spend more than we can afford. Above all, there are so many sites and places we can get a discount or that are on sale, like washbin furniture, as all that’s needed is a bit of time and research, or you can just click here and find affordable yet gorgeous and functional add-ons for your new bathroom.
Pick the right type of lighting
This room is where we spend a certain amount of time every day, meaning that it’s entirely natural for us to want to design it in a way that suits us the most. Now, there is no better way to enhance the looks of any room than by having natural light in it, but in case that’s not optional, there are many other ways to make it exceptional. Namely, adding LED lighting can be an ideal solution, especially when you can pick the color that will fit with the tiles the most, giving it that modern, bright look. There are a ton of solutions and ideas, but lighting, in general, is of vast importance.
The type and size of the bathroom
There are four main types of bathrooms, and depending on the size and how one wants to remodel it, there are certain things they need to consider.
Standard bathrooms
Those who want to remodel a classic bathroom the entire family shares must keep in mind they have everything family members need. This is where it can get a bit tricky, as you will need drawers for towels, medicine cabinet(s), etc. So, depending on the size of the bathroom, you will need to carefully design and place everything so that every family member has their own private space. This is all besides standard must-haves like sinks, toilets, baths, and/or showers.
Master bathroom
This is for those who want to access the bathroom from their bedroom, and this is usually a bit smaller type with just the essentials or just with a jacuzzi, for example. Of course, if there is enough space and money isn’t a problem, one can place everything else and create a little oasis for themselves, but in most cases, it’s just for the essentials.
Wet room
This type of bathroom is becoming increasingly popular lately due to its functionality. The goal of a perfect yet modern bathroom is simple to achieve with this one, and it’s all because the shower isn’t behind the curtain. These types of baths are entirely waterproofed, meaning there is no need to worry about water splashing on walls or floor, and, due to its popularity, there are various designs and types to choose from, so this should definitely be something to at least consider.
Half bath
Some people like to create an ideal bathroom where they will have everything but for those seeking a modern yet strictly functional bathroom, a half bath is the one to go. Powder rooms, as they are otherwise called, are ideal for both practical everyday use by homeowners and for when you have guests. It’s small but has everything one might need, which leaves more space for creating bigger and more comfy rooms.
Consider adding plants
Once we have settled on the essentials, we can focus on other things, like how to decorate it to give this room even more life. One of the ways to achieve that is by adding plants, but not just any plants that cross your mind. There is much moisture here, so going with plants that can withstand it is the goal. Plants bring that much-needed color into sterile bathrooms, and even if there is not that much space to place them, there are floating shelves where you can place these plants.
Don’t forget about add-ons
Like in any other room in our house, there are things we use and things we have just because they look great. Now, besides plants, you probably don’t want to place things you have no real use for in the bathroom, meaning that you should focus on adding things you use and need every day. The mirror is one of the things we cannot imagine our bathroom without, and adding several mirrors will make it even more functional.
Also, don’t forget to add enough hooks, as this can be a great solution for smaller bathrooms because you will not have to add any furniture yet still have enough surface area for all of the essentials. The back of the door, inside of the cabinets, on the wall, etc., are just some of the common places people add hooks to hang towels and bathrobes, but you can always pick something different, so just be creative.
