Princess Elizabeth of York, the future monarch of the UK
Decades before being the Queen of England, as well as the longest-ruling monarch in British history, young Princess Elizabeth was snapped at the tender age of one, back on, June 1, 1927. She looks very amused and happy on her teeny tiny “throne”, as she poses for London News. A sign of great things to come, for sure.
Prince Charles in his pram
Just before his first birthday, on October 13, 1949, the future Prince of Wales and the first in line for the throne is pushed in his pram by Helen Lightbody, his nanny from 1948 until 1956.
Prince Philip, as the Prince of Greece and Denmark
The husband of the Queen, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, was born as a Prince of Greece and Denmark, on June 10, 1921. From there, things really went badly for his family, as they were exiled from Greece before this photo of the one-year-old royal happened. Twelve years later, he met Princess Elizabeth of York, and began a lengthy correspondence with her that would result in their marriage in 1947.
Princess Beatrice with her mum, the Duchess of York
Princess Beatrice Elizabeth Mary of York is the first child of Prince Andrew of York and his former wife, Sarah, the Duchess of York. This where she is holding Baby Bea was snapped around the first birthday of the princess.
Princess Margaret Rose
Born on August 30, 1930, Princess Margaret Rose of York became the Countess of Snowdon after getting married to Antony Armstrong-Jones in 1960, who was named Earl of Snowdon by the Queen. On the picture, the future Countess is one-year-old, standing with her older sister, Princess Elizabeth. The two were very close all the way until her passing in 2002, after a lung ailment.
The future Duke of Cambridge, Prince William of Wales
The third in line for the throne, Prince William Arthur Philip Louis was born on June 21, 1982. Here, he is snapped just before his first birthday, while being carried off the airplane by his nanny, Barbara Barnes. With his parents, he toured Australia and New Zealand.
The future Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry
In this heartwarming picture from August 7, 1985, Lady Diana, Princess of Wales, carries her younger, soon-to-be one-year-old son, Prince Henry Charles Albert David, aboard the ship “Britannia”. They sailed to the Western Isles of Scotland.
On September 11, 1991, Princess Eugenie of York waived farewell to her sister Princess Beatrice, who went for her first school day. Her mum, Sarah, Duchess of York, is holding her by the hand.
Princess Anne, the future Princess Royal
Born on August 15, 1950, Princess Anne Elizabeth Alice Louise is one year old in this picture, where she is with her mum Elizabeth, still Princess of York at this time.
Prince Andrew, the future Duke of York
Prince Andrew Albert Christian Edward was born on February 19, 1960. He received the title of Duke of York by his mother the Queen, on July 23, 1986, after his marriage to Sarah Ferguson, his now ex-wife and the mother of their two daughters. Here, the little Prince is looking out of the Buckingham Palace around the time of his first birthday.
Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex
The youngest of the Queen’s four children, Prince Edward Antony Richard Louis was born on March 10, 1964. He was the third in line to the British throne at this time. After major additions to the family, he is now tenth in line, and will soon be eleventh, after the baby of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle arrives.
Prince George Alexander Louis of Cambridge, the third in line for the throne and the future king, was snapped during a visit to the Sensational Butterflies Exhibition, at the Natural History Museum of London in July of 2014. He turned one year old that month. The family released this photo in honor of his birthday.
The second child of William and Kate, Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana of Cambridge, was born on May 2, 2015. The royal family released this cute photograph in honor of her first birthday. Her mom took the photo, as she is known for snapping amazing pictures of her kids, at Anmer Hall in Norfolk in April of 2016.
The granddaughter of the Queen and the younger child of Princess Anne and Captain Mark Phillips, her first husband, was born on May 15, 1981. Zara Anne Elizabeth Phillips, now Zara Tindall after marrying Mike Tindall in 2011, is just over a year old on the photo.
