Indoor team building activities are group bonding exercises & collaborative games that take place indoors whether it be an office, conference room or boardroom. As indoor team building activities are not reliant on perfect weather to go ahead, teams can come together for a day of fun, collaboration & building camaraderie with confidence (and WIFI & air conditioning)!
When planning any team building event it is important to consider the specific outcomes you would like to achieve & the demographics of your group. When planning an indoor team building activity, the kind of indoor space you have at your disposal will significantly influence the type of team building event best suited to your group. Both the size of the indoor space and the type of setup you have arranged i.e., cabaret, theatre, classroom, or u-shape style will determine which activities are possible. According to Pinnacle Team Events, they have a range of indoor team building activities available to suit any indoor space & room setup.

Benefits of Indoor Team Building Activities
Team building is one of the most important investments you can make for your team. Whether it’s bringing new people together, strengthening already established relationships or as a reward for a job well done – effective team building means happier & more engaged employees.
Some benefits of indoor team building activities includes:
- One of the biggest advantages of indoor team building activities is that they aren’t negatively affected by cold, rain, or other such adverse weather conditions. You can book in an indoor team building event with confidence that regardless of weather, it will proceed as planned on the day.
- Indoor team building activities can be more inclusive of all staff. Some employees may be intimidated by the idea of an outdoor team building activity and may struggle to withstand sun or outdoor exercise for extended periods of time.
- Many corporate offices and CBD conference venues do not have any outdoor green space readily available for team building activities.
- An indoor venue generally comes with all the creature comforts you could ask for: WIFI, air conditioning, access to A/V equipment & toilet facilities.
Indoor Team Building Activity Examples
These can range from activities where teams are competing head-to-head against one another such as Team Challenge, Battle of the Minds & Grape to Glass, to activities where the whole group work together as one team to reach a common goal like our Corporate Drumming & Bridge to Unity activities. A number of CSR/Charity Style indoor team building events may be available depending on the company such as Tikes on Bikes, SolarBuddy, Helping Hampers & Challenge for Charity.
The indoor team building activity that is best suited to your group will be determined by your timeframe available, desired outcomes for the activity & the space & setup you have organised. Some of the most popular indoor team building activities include:
Tikes on Bikes
Tikes on Bikes is the perfect indoor team building activity that combines teamwork and giving back to those in need. Delegates are led to believe they are competing head-to-head against each other in a series of team challenges, culminating in a bike race to determine the winning team. For the final challenge teams receive a box containing all the parts required to build & then race their bike. Just before the race is called, we introduce a representative from a local charity who explains the true meaning behind today’s activity. The children then enter the room to collect the donated bikes from your delegates personally & this is the part when the tears usually start to flow! An inspirational activity which never fails to tug at the heart strings of participants.
Lego® Serious Play®
Lego® Serious Play® is a facilitation methodology developed by The Lego Group and used in their own meetings as a way of supporting creative thinking and problem solving. In a Lego® Serious Play® session, delegates are asked to BUILD an answer to a question using LEGO® bricks – hence the term ‘serious play’. Forget post-it notes, PowerPoint presentations and flip charts; with Lego® Serious Play® you can have everybody engaged and collaborating to solve problems and improve decision-making.
Escape
In 60 minutes, the world as you know it will cease to exist. Your job (as a team) is to escape the room and save the world from impending doom. What activity could be better at bringing teams together than saving the world with a splash of friendly competition? A mobile Escape room has been designed, meaning, the fun is brought to you! It’s required you have 1 x room per 8-12 people & each room will be set up with the same challenges to ensure fairness between teams.
Grape to Glass
It’s no surprise that a wine design team building challenge is also one of our most popular! Not only is the Grape to Glass popular in wine regions such as the Hunter Valley, but it can also bring the cellar door to your conference venue. All that’s required is 1 x table per team of approximately 8 people & a team building business will bring the rest. This hands-on event will see teams compete to design their very own wine which they will present to our expert winemaker for judging.
Corporate Drumming
The perfect indoor team building activity to kickstart a day of conferencing or refocus & reenergise your group after a meal break. As delegates enter the conference room, they are greeted by the sounds of large African Djembe drums coming from our facilitator at the front of the room. When your delegates look around at all the conference chairs, they will see a drum and/or percussion instrument on every seat. Without saying a word, our facilitator gestures for delegates to take their seats and join in playing along. Once everyone is seated, our facilitator orchestrates different drumbeats around the room & unifies them into one, BIG harmonious sound. An inspirational activity with powerful metaphors around one team & working towards a common goal.
