I can vaguely remember a time in my life when a cake stuffed with candy might seem a little strange and excessive, but that was Before Pinterest (B.P.) completely desensitized me to the phenomenon of desserts stuffed with more dessert. Now, the idea of a piñata cake actually seems kind of tame, at least compared to the cakes-stuffed-with-pies-stuffed-with-truffles-stuffed-with-ice-cream that I routinely repin with comments like, “So nice for a party!” This piñata cake, though, it did give me pause. Not because of the high levels of sugar, but because of the candy wrappers inside. Call me picky, but I generally prefer there not to be plastic in my food. I don’t know, what do you guys think? Is the piñata cake an awesome idea or an example of excessive desserts gone awry?
