Rush Limbaugh and Matt Drudge think Hurricane Matthew is a liberal conspiracy (it’s not)

As the Category 4 tropical storm Hurricane Matthew makes its way through Florida, there are people who still doubt the validity of the storm. The outspoken Rush Limbaugh thinks Hurricane Matthew is a liberal conspiracy and his ranks are joined by conservative blogger and founder of the Drudge Report, Matt Drudge, who has also considered the possibility that the government is lying about Hurricane Matthew as part of a leftist conspiracy to further prove the existence of global warming.

Contrary to the conspiracies, Hurricane Matthew has already inflicted fatal and devastating effects on Haiti, with a report from CNN reporting that more than 300,000 people are currently seeking refuge in shelters across the island. The tropical storm has reached peak sustained winds of 145 mph and has taken the lives of more than 400 people.

For those directly affected, the storm is certainly no fiction to be speculated about, yet, Drudge and Limbaugh have openly cast their doubts about the validity, with Drudge tweeting Friday morning: “The deplorables are starting to wonder if govt has been lying to them about Hurricane Matthew intensity to make exaggerated point on climate.” In case you don’t get the political reference, his use of “deplorables” is a reference to Donald Trump supporters who claimed the nickname after Hillary Clinton said half of Trump’s supporters were a “basket of deplorables.”

Meanwhile, on The Rush Limbaugh Show, the loquacious Limbaugh went on to say:

It’s in the interest of the left to have destructive hurricanes because then they can blame it on climate change, which they can desperately continue trying to sell.

He even went so far as to add that he thought the reports from the National Hurricane Center were “tainted” because of Obama’s leadership and detailed that he has made an express effort to expose “the politics in hurricane tracking and hurricane forecasting.”

Go ahead, listen for yourself.

The separate but equal Hurricane conspirator Drudge went on to tweet more about how his doubts of the real danger of the storm, going so far as to say that both the National Hurricane Center and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration were in cahoots with the government.

Naturally, there were many people on Twitter who disagreed with Drudge’s estimation of Hurricane Matthew.

hey asshat, if even one of your followers reads this, decides not to leave, and dies… that death is on your soul.

Are you a real person? Is this a parody account? This storm has already killed 300 people. NHC does not have a monopoly.

A report from Popular Science Magazine reveals that Hugh Cobb, the chief analyst of the hurricane’s tropical center knew about Drudge’s conspiracy but neglected to comment, most likely because he was too busy trying to give people actual hurricane preparation tips.
