Heather O’Rourke, played Carol Ann Freeling in the first three Poltergeist movies. However, she died at the age of 12 on an operating table in The Children’s Hospital of San Diego. The doctors determined that the cause of death was intestinal stenosis, a severe bowel obstruction which the girl had since birth.
