The royal family doesn’t travel like the rest of the world. While we bring everything we can for our trips and try to wield around with that heavy luggage by ourselves, the royal family has people who carry their luggage for them, and they don’t bring as many things as we do when they travel.
Ever since she became the Queen of England, Elizabeth II has the longest mileage in her family. Press Association stated that all of her air miles equate to more than 42 trips around the world. With that said, let’s take a look at what does she bring with her when she does around the world.
Contents
Sweets
Queen Elizabeth II brings sweets not to only enjoy them, but to also suffer less from jet lag. “Carrying out your daily habits like eating and sleeping in line with your new destination’s time zone — both en-route and on arrival — helps re-synchronize our body clock to our new environment. What the queen is doing by having barley sugar is essentially using her body’s sugar metabolic pathways to help adjust her body clock,” said Dr. Nick Knight to The Telegraph.
Blood
It might seem a little bit strange, but Queen Elizabeth II and her husband, Prince Philip have their own stock of blood for traveling. That way they can always get a blood transfusion in case anything bad happened to them while traveling. They also have a Royal Naval doctor with them on board.
One black outfit
Every member of the royal family must bring one black outfit when they travel. The reason behind this is that, when Elizabeth II was in Kenya in 1952, she found out her father had died. She didn’t have anything appropriate to wear for a trip back home, and that is why all of the royal family must “always travel with funeral clothing” to avoid this from ever happening again.
Bathroom stuff
One of the help shared with The Telegraph, “Hosts spend more time worrying about the loo arrangements than anything else, down to what color the towels should be and whether the loo roll is a suitable brand.” Queen travels with her own toilet paper, sealed in order to prove that is brand new.
Handwritten schedule
Every little detail of her travels is organized, and everything is written by hand in a special notebook.
Family photos
The proof of how much she loves her family. She always carries family pictures with her while on a trip.
Tea
Even though most of the places she visits have tea to serve, she likes to have her own Earl Grey tea with her, as well as her own tea kettle.
Food and drinks
In addition to the tea, she takes Harrods sausages. She carries gin, Dubonnet and a slice of lemon to make her favorite drink.
Soap
Perhaps the reason she carries her own soap is that she likes to feel like at home. Her special soap has a distinctive smell of pine, and she probably wants to be reminded of her home when she senses it.
What about the passport?
Queen Elizabeth II is the only one allowed not to have a passport in Britain. Since she is the most recognizable person on this planet, she doesn’t need to go through all that procedure when you are checking in and out of a country, and therefore, she doesn’t need a passport.
