Also, you should be changing the setting – so instead of the story being set in the 1800s to adapt it to modern times. The characters should be revised as well, and it would be cool if you would expand the main story as well – the more plot there is the more interesting it becomes. Before you go and try to retell a fairy tale yourself, you should read some existing retellings to get a good grip of it.
