One of the main trends for flowers in Vancouver is dried flowers. This art of drying flowers can be traced back 4000 years ago to Egyptian florists. The flowers were dried and presented in ceremonies preferably funerals, with each type of flower having a specific symbol within their religion.

  • Different Ways of Preserving Flowers

  1. Drying and hanging – this is a traditional way of preserving flowers. The straightforward way to dry them is to remove the leaves, put them together and tie them small groups and then hung them upside down. Note that the flowers should be hanged in a warm and well-lit space.
  2. Silica gel drying – this is a modern method of preserving flowers. The silica helps absorb the moisture and dries the flowers quickly than the normal drying method. After removing the moisture, you are supposed to put the dried flowers in an airtight container.
  3. Pressed- this method of preserving flowers began in the Victorian era. The flowers are pressed using different pressures deigned for each flower type. The flowers are then tied on a flat frame and hanged on the wall.
  4. Other methods – apart from the methods mentioned above, there are other methods such as freeze-drying. However, depending on the type of flowers in Vancouver you want to dry, you are supposed to choose a method that doesn’t hurt your pockets and will have a significant positive impact on your business.
