When it comes to creating a weekly household cleaning schedule, it’s all about coming up with a plan that works best for you. Spring is on the way and that means one thing; it’s time for spring cleaning. But before you do that, have you ever thought about making things easier for yourself?

If you’re the kind of person that likes to keep things nice and by the book, then TidyChoice has just the article for you. This article will focus on the most important things to have in mind and how to create a weekly cleaning schedule that works for you in 2023.

So, don’t go anywhere as we’re sure this article will greatly put an end to your cleaning problems.

Create A Master Task List

Before you pick up the hand towel and start cleaning the countertop, you have to first decide what needs cleaning and how often. This is probably one of the hardest things involved with creating such a schedule list, as it takes into account numerous things that need regular, or not so regular, cleaning.

The master cleaning list can be divided into numerous sections, each section containing a sub-list of tasks that need doing.

For example, your taster list should contain all the rooms in your home; the kitchen, the living room, the dining room, bedrooms, etc. Then you need to create tasks for each room. This can be further explained with the following:

  • The Kitchen: countertops, appliances, dishes, etc.
  • Bedroom: bed, pillows, rug, scrubbing dust, etc.
  • And so on, so on; you get the idea.

Then, you need to further add three extra rows. Each row determines how often the task needs doing. For example, the first row will include tasks in each room that require “regular cleaning”. The 2nd row could include tasks that require “quarterly” and the last will be for “yearly” cleaning.

This is a very simple solution that works perfectly.

But wait a minute. Wasn’t this article supposed to be for weekly cleaning? Indeed so. Then why include this type of list? Well, we did first so we can understand better how the system works but more importantly, know we know which tasks need regular doing.

So, once we’ve done this list, let’s move on towards creating a…

Create a Weekly Schedule

As we’ve mentioned earlier, we’ve created our main list, now let’s create a few more.

First off, take a look at the main list and see which tasks need regular cleaning. Since you’ve placed each task within a unique category, you can take an easier look and determine which the ones that are most critical are.

Once you know these tasks, let’s further divide them.

Take each task and create an identical list. This time, instead of “regularly”, “quarterly” and “yearly”, you go for days of the week.

So, an example, you could have “dusting” put on Monday, “scrubbing floors” on Tuesday, and so on.

This way you’re creating the perfect plan when the time for doing so comes.

Tools Are Important

How could you clean your household without having the necessary tools?

Do you have a mop for the floor tiles? Do you have a broom and dustpan set for cleaning debris off the floor? Do you even have the most essential tools available to you, the vacuum cleaner?

If not, then you definitely need to go and buy these tools, as no one can maintain their home without them.

If you happened to be looking for a quality vacuum cleaner that experts recommend, then make sure to give vacuumhub.com a visit to determine the best one on the market.

What to Include?

If you’ve stumbled a block and don’t know how to continue, then it’s time for us to give you some help.

Namely, naming everything that needs doing will be a challenging part of creating a weekly schedule. What if you miss a room or even a task? What then? Do you go again straight from the beginning?

Well, that depends on how you’re making the list. Is it in digital form or is it written?

Making it in digital form is always a better option than having it written. Once you have it crated digitally, you can then print it and have it on paper.

But there are also lots of apps out there that make this a very convenient thing.

Regardless, these are some of the most important tasks that need to be included:

  • Make the bed
  • Clean the dishes
  • Wipe the surface of the bathroom
  • Sweep the kitchen tiles
  • Do the laundry
  • Clean mirrors
  • Sanitize the sponges
  • Clean the toaster
  • Organize the wardrobe
  • Clean the toilet
  • Vacuum floors
  • Wipe kitchen counterparts and tables

While these aren’t all of the tasks, they still remain some of the more important ones. And, since we’re naming things, it’s important to note that not every task here requires daily doing. Some need doing on a weekly bases while some, like making the bed, require daily.

Start Implementing the Plan

Okay, you have your plan and you have the necessary tools. Now what? Well, now it’s time to start implementing the plan you’ve created.

If you’re not a fan of cleaning, but is desperate to create a weekly schedule, then all of your trouble starts today.

If you happened to love cleaning, then sticking by this schedule will be the best thing you could possibly do. Since you’ve made this list based on your needs, it shouldn’t be hard to manage or even follow.

If you have free days on your schedule where you don’t have any chores to do, then you should definitely rest during those days.

When to Start?

This one will apply differently to each person. Our advice is to start when you have the least amount to do. This is still something new for you, and it might take time to get used to it.

This method of weekly cleaning will help you alleviate lots of pressure off the regular weekend cleaning. Your previous way of going about this sort of work might’ve had your weekends jam-packed.

Well, the case is no more as you’ll start noticing the results in no time.
