What Is TENS Therapy And How It Works

These days there are many people who prefer not to take medicine to help relieve aches and pains. They prefer to go drug-free as many of today’s medicines have addictive properties and severe side effects.
Modern technology means we have a new way of relieving pain caused by many medical conditions such as Sciatica, muscle and joint issues and surgery recovery. This technology is called TENS therapy!

What is TENS therapy?

Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation or as it is more commonly known TENS is the process of sending small electrical pulses through conductive pads. These electrode pads are placed at various points on the skin where the source of pain stems from.

The small electrical pulses then pass through the skin and into the nerve ending underneath. This causes two different factors to take place. The first thing that happens is that the nerve endings pick up the electrical pulse signals and send them through the central nervous system to the brain. By doing this, the actual pain signals that you do not want to feel are redirected or even blocked completely from entering the central nervous system. The second way that a TENS machine helps relieve pain is by encouraging the body to release Endorphins. Endorphins are a natural pain killer that the body produces and really help to relieve the pain.
If you would like to read more about the benefits of TENS machines and TENS therapy, then have a look at TENS Machine Pro where they go in depth about these devices and test and review many different machines.

Using a TENS machine to build muscle.

Many TENS machines also work as an EMS machine as well. EMS which stands for Electrical Muscle Stimulation works the same as a TENS machine but instead send out much more powerful pulses of electricity. The pulses of electricity go as deep as the muscles and cause the muscle fibers to contract intensely.
These contractions act in the same way as when you do exercises and weightlifting in the gym. By using an Ems Machine, you can workout all of your muscles causing them to firm, strengthen and also tone up.

One of the hardest areas to workout and tone up is the abdominal muscles which is sometimes referenced as the six-pack. These core muscles can take a lot of hard work to define, but with an EMS Machine, you can get proven results within 4 weeks of treatment. If you would like to see an EMS machine capable of doing this, then take a look at this Slendertone Abs belt review which goes into detail about how you can achieve your dream body with EMS.
Both TENS and EMS machines have multiple uses from pain relief for many severe ailments to muscle building and stimulation. They provide a great alternative to medicines and are relatively cheap which may come as a surprise to many people! With so many people turning to the power of TENS and EMS therapy isn’t it time you thought about buying one yourself?
