Every day, people all around the world experience heart attacks, and unfortunately, 50% of them have a deadly outcome. Taking care of your body and your mind should lower the chances of a heart attack. This is a serious topic that is often overlooked, but it should not be taken lightly.

By knowing the signs of a heart attack, you could react in a timely manner and help somebody, even save their lives. The most common signs are recognized in feeling or being sick, looking grey and pale, pain (sometimes traveling from your chest) in your arms, jaw, neck, back, and abdomen, feeling sweaty and clammy, feeling dizzy, breathlessness, wheezing or coughing, generally feeling unwell, restless or panicky, and feeling your heartbeat rate speeding up.

Don’t ignore this life-threatening emergency and try to keep a cool composure to be able to handle the situation. An instant reaction can be crucial for the heart attack. Such a treacherous disease can surprise anyone if we don’t pay proper attention, especially the people who have diabetes. While heart attack generally seldom affects young people, it often doesn’t depend on age and it can still strike when you are not hoping. If it happens we should be at least prepared and have the necessary knowledge on how to deal with it, right? We have prepared a few tips for you to have in the back of your mind if ever you are in this situation.

As we said above, the first thing is to try to stay calm, to be able to apply the required steps. Heart attack signs should be memorized in order to lower the level of panic and increase your awareness of the topic. The scary feeling of a heart attack has taken too many lives, so remaining calm is essential. After you have recognized the signs, call an emergency or at least don’t let the group of people gather around and narrow air flow. Not many people know that heart attacks occur shortly after the first one. This is why it is necessary to call EMS, the emergency medical services personnel can start treatment on the way to the hospital and stabilize the patient.

The most recommended medicine to people with a heart condition is always to have nitroglycerine in their pocket. When you feel one of the symptoms, you take a pill of nitroglycerine and keep it below your tongue.  Wait for it to melt in your mouth and don’t speak or move in the process. You will feel the heart slowing down, and the complete body relaxing. Emergency medical services have the knowledge, and skills to help you on the way to the hospital. Note that EKG scan can’t register a heart attack if it is still in progress, qualified personnel is someone to be trusted in this case.

The biggest problem is still the discipline of people to recognize and take their health seriously. As a result of this, the number of heart attacks has increased in a younger generation 30-40 years old. No matter how old people are, this can always happen. So make sure you educate yourself on the topic and know what to do in this instance.
