Social Media keeps us engaged, it keeps us alive, and more importantly, it keeps us active. There are more than a dozen social networks out there which have literally taken over our lives for the past decade. But it turns out, one network believes that we are just getting started.

Ever heard of FirstFate? No, don’t worry I hadn’t too, till recently, but quietly and secretly, this social network has captured the attention of hundreds of thousands of millennials over the past year. No, I kid you not. But why is that? Here are the top three reasons it has become the latest sensation in the world of social media:

1. It’s an Augmented Reality based Social Network:

Yes, you read that right. One can share their moments at any place on the face of the Earth, and it is permanently available at that spot till eternity. Only it is not visible to the naked eye. But via Augmented Reality, thanks to the FirstFate app’s feature called TimeLoops. Clicking this feature opens a Camera Preview where you can add your own moment or see the ones shared by people near that location, using the GPS. You can share anything and everything. You can interact with the moments shared by others as well. You can refine it to see only your own moments like a Throwback journey, or see moments created by your friends or see the secret ones left just for you. I know, right? What’s social media if you cannot leave secret messages for your friends and loved ones.

Tip: If you wish to leave a secret message to your loved one, don’t forget to tag them when you are adding your time loop. Then only they can see that picture or video via augmented reality.

2. It allows you to see any spot in the world at this very moment

Whoa! I know, right? There’s something called Lookies, which are basically images, videos or audio clips of places that are shared by people on the social app. Wherever they are, they are sharing these recent or even Live pictures of all spots, which the app allows one to conveniently search over the map. And if you can’t find a spot? You can create a request which is sent to all the people near that spot. People get Lookie points for every like their picture receive and the number of requests they answer, and it shows up on the Leaderboard. Yes, there’s a leaderboard too, with all the bragging rights with it.

Tip: While adding Lookies, you can click the checkbox of “Add it to profile,” so that yourLookie is added as a regular post on your profile as well. Saves you the hassle of uploading the same thing multiple times 😉

3. It has some amazing FaceFilters, and even allows you to create your own

We all love stunning pictures, and this app has taken it to the next level. Not only these face filters are realistic, but they resemble a theme, and there are like 30 pre-built themes. That’s not even the best part. The best part is that you can create your own theme by choosing the eyes, nose, mouth, ears, background and what not, to create your perfect avatar! It uses advanced facial recognition technologies just like the other social apps out there, so there’s a sense of awesomeness to it!

Tip: You must try the water princess theme. Everyone I know has loved it!

Wow so much awesome news, but no sad news? Sadly there is. The Augmented Reality and FaceFilters are only available for the Android (Play Store Link ) users, with iOS to be launched soon.

That’s it for now. I’ll update soon as we get more on this!
