Leaving NCIS

Cote de Pablo ended her NCIS days in 2013 after 189 episodes. Her character, Ziva David died off-screen in later seasons. De Pablo commented on her character, “When I felt or I perceived the character was not being treated with the respect that she deserved, all the money in the world couldn’t buy [me].”

The return

“You thought her story was over; now the biggest NCIS secret of all will be revealed,” said a voiceover in a promo for Season 16. Ziva David has been seen crying, as Bishop, Gibbs, and Torres also appear in the teaser. Since Ziva David died, some speculate that Cote de Pablo won’t be coming back, but according to NCIS writers, that is probably just speculation. “After a malnourished and confused 9-year-old is found hiding in a storage unit, NCIS reopens an old missing person case when the girl is believed to be the daughter of a Navy recruit who disappeared 10 years ago,” said in CBS’ description of the episode. “Also, Bishop discovers notes that Special Agent Ziva David kept on the case long after NCIS officially stopped investigating.” The episode in which Ziva David appeared again is called ‘’She.’’
