Why you need a Skincare Routine

The phrase skincare can bring a few things to your mind: dry skin, oily skin, and a long aisle of skin products at your local drugstore. But its more than just a simple surface-level concern. While a skincare routine may sound like a lot of hassle, in reality, the steps for keeping a healthy skin are not only necessary, they are also pretty easy to implement. For more information about beauty tips and advice visit this site.

Investing early in the skincare, with regular routines, will not only protect you from harsh weather effects in winter and summer but will also keep you feeling and looking your best throughout the seasons.

First, you will have to take into account your type of skin. The primary skin types are oily, dry, or a combination of both, and while your skin may get oilier or drier based on the season, most of the time, it should be consistent.

What belongs in a skincare cabinet

You should know what it takes to have a healthy skin routine. What types of products will you really need to keep your skin clean and healthy?

Cleanser

Source: 1mg

The cleanser is what you will use to wash your face, and it is vital that you use a product that is intended only for your face, not just whatever body wash you have to lie around. You will want to avoid scrubbing too hard, instead gently wash your face. Then, rinse with some warm water, because hot water can remove some of the natural oils of your skin and will cause it to become dehydrated.

If your problem is oily skin, you will want to look for an oil-free cleanser, and you also might want to use a toner.

If you have drier skin, you will want to use one without a fragrance or alcohol.

If you are looking to upgrade or start your skincare cabinet for daily routines, we recommend that you check out DermalMD and the full line of products that they offer.

Toner

Toner is applied immediately after you wash your face and can soften and calm your skin. Toners usually have ingredients that restore and replenish nutrients to your skin and diminish dry patches and redness.

Moisturizer

Like cleansers, moisturizers are for everyone, and you should use it every time you wash your face. Oily skin can benefit from oil-free, lightweight or gel products. Moisturizers prevent your face from drying out, leaving your skin smooth and hydrated. They are most effective when your skin is still damp from the wash to successfully seal in the moisture.

Sunscreen

Many moisturizers include SPF, but it won’t hurt to put on some additional sunscreen as well – especially if your moisturizer does not have an SPF above 30. Apply sunscreen every day, even when it rainy or cold in the winter days. When you are exposed for prolonged periods, you should reapply every two or three hours. Make sure that your sunscreen protects from both UVB and UVA rays. The UV exposure is the number one cause of uneven skin tone, aging signs, loss of firmness and wrinkles.

Serum

An optional addition to the skincare routine, serums contain ingredients like retinol and antioxidants that support your skin health in more than one way, such as improving texture, firmness, and calming redness.
