The biggest sources of it are usually from Asia, Eastern Europe, South America, and India. Even if they left them together with the rest, they probably wouldn’t survive through the chemical process. Although, most batches of hair do not get through the process of coloring. What happens to the hair that needs to be colored?
Once it has been sorted for length, it goes through a process to remove any kind of pigmentation until it is translucent. Once the color has been completely removed it can be dyed either with hair-dye or with fabric-dye, depending on the shade.
How often do wigs need to be washed?
Now once you have decided to buy one, it is time to help you understand what you will need to do so it can last as possible. You do not want to spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars just so it starts looking old and dry in just a few months.
If you think that you need to wash it as often as your natural hair then you are wrong. Actually, the more you wash it, the bigger the chances that it will start getting dry and brittle.
However, that does not mean that you should never keep it clean and fresh. Most experts will tell you that you should give it a quick wash at least once in two weeks, but only if you plan to wear it every single day throughout these weeks. Should I use regular shampoo?
This is one of those questions that everyone asks themselves and the answer is definitely no. You should never consider cleaning your hairpiece with the regular shampoo or conditioner you use.
Are you wondering why? Well, you should avoid using them because they contain a lot of chemicals that keep our scalp healthy to promote hair growth and oil production, but the hairpiece does not have a scalp. Such a shampoo will basically destroy it, ruining the sewing or the glue which will cause the wig to start breaking down.
If you can’t find the right shampoo, we recommend that you avoid using any kind of chemical and just use water to keep your hairpiece clean. Although, if you want it to smell and look good then you will have to make a bit of research and find the right shampoo.

What else do you need to do?
First, you will have to put the wig on your stand. If you do not have one, then you should definitely buy one if you want it to last for multiple years. After placing it on the stand then you will have to use a brush and gently comb to detangle any hairs. We warn you that you have to be very gentle and don’t pull on the strands too hard or you might rip them off.
Next, get a bowl of warm water. Yes, warm water, not too cold and not too hot because too hot or too cold temperatures can be damaging. Then use your hands to gently rub a bit of water on the wig. Don’t try to soak it wet or to dip it in the bowl.
If you bought the required shampoo then you can start adding it to the hairpiece and then gently wash it off with the warm water and then let it dry out on the strand.
