Finding out that you are pregnant for the first time is an exciting time, but it is also quite scary too. You are entering a world that it is completely unknown to you and your partner. You have no idea what you should do, what right wrong and what is right. But, there is no need to panic because you have 9 months to prepare yourself for the new member of your family.

However, which source of information should you trust? Should you ask your parents, your friends with children, should you check on the Internet or should you consult only with your doctor? Well, there isn’t any true source of information about this subject because anyone can chip in with a bit of advice that can help you. Your mom might have some outdated pregnancy tips, but they might still be useful. Your doctor will always provide you with advice to stay healthy and happy, but they won’t be able to answer all of your questions.

But, it is important that you do some of your research on your own. Here are some first-time pregnancy tips to ease you into the world of being a mom in 2024.

Contents

  • Don’t trust everything on the internet
  • Implement more vitamins in your diet
  • Prepare for the baby
  • Exercise
  • Remove alcohol and tobacco from your life
  • Get a comfortable pair of shoes
  • Create a plan when you go into labor

Don’t trust everything on the internet

The internet is a huge place that is full of billions of users and trillions of pieces of information that anyone can access. This information can be both true and false at the time and find out which one is which is not as easy as you think. This is why it is important that you do some research on the websites you rely on. Are they a reputable source of information? Do they have reviews or comments at the bottom of the page? You could also crosscheck information from one website with another. If all sites talk about the same tip then it is probably true.

In other words, you don’t have to Google every symptom or thought you have in your mind. It is normal that you sometimes feel dizzy, or if you go to the bathroom every five minutes. These are some of the things that your doctor could answer for you.

Implement more vitamins in your diet

This is something that anyone on the planet should do. Getting your daily dose of vitamins will make you feel energetic and healthy, so why shouldn’t you do it? As a mom-to-be, it is important that you take your vitamins because it might prevent your session of morning sickness. Feeling dizzy during the first and half of the second trimester is a very common symptom, but with enough vitamins C, B, and D, you will feel much better. Maintaining a healthy diet may influence the doubling of hCG levels during the initial 7 weeks of pregnancy, which is indicative of the expected progression of the pregnancy.

We recommend that you implement these vitamins into your meals with vegetables and fruits, if you do not have the time to cook then you can consider pill supplements. Of course, eating vegetables and fruits is a much healthier option.

Prepare for the baby

In less than a year you are going to be a mother and you will be holding your firstborn in your arms. While you are preparing for your pregnancy months, it is also important that you start preparing to become a mom. You should expect that both you and your partner will only be getting just a couple hours of sleep throughout the nights because the baby will constantly crave for attention. This is normal, but you have to be ready for it.

You will also need to stock up on diapers, lotion for your breasts (they will be sore) and bibs. You should also consider things such as baby clothes, burp clothes, breast pumps and a lot of baby bottles. Assuming that you are looking for a high-quality baby bottle, you should check out Hwaml.

Exercise

Of course, when you are 6 months pregnant no one expects you to start doing jumping jacks or pushups, but you can still implement simple exercises throughout the day to help you with your back and your stress. Start with simple stretching of your neck, arms, and legs in the mornings. If you feel sore after this light stretching then you are not getting enough movement throughout the day. We recommend that you consider a ten-minute walk at least once a day. You will have a lot less back pain and you will boost your circulation which is healthy for both you and your baby.

Remove alcohol and tobacco from your life

You probably already know this, but it is still very important to mention it. Alcohol, cigarettes and all the other types of smoke can be very toxic to the baby which might lead to complications and other problems during birth. As someone who is about to bring a new life onto this world, it is very important that you stay as healthy as possible. Avoid any kind of toxins.

Get a comfortable pair of shoes

A lot of pregnant women always complain about their shoes feeling too tight and like their feet are growing. The feet are not actually growing, but the extra weight you start carrying (your baby bump) shifts your center of gravity which can cause a lot more pressure to your toes. This is why it is important that you find yourself a new pair of shoes which you will feel comfortable in. There are a lot of brands out there that create sneakers specifically for pregnant women.

Create a plan when you go into labor

Most of the time, a doctor can tell you when to expect the baby to come, but that assumption is not always so accurate. Sometimes, your baby may be ready to exit much earlier or later than you expect. This means that you should always be ready to go to the hospital once you go into labor. You should prepare a bag of fresh clothes and everything that you will need when you are in the hospital and keep it ready in case something happens.
