Nothing is quite as depressing as being the only one keen to have a couple of drinks when you’re with mates in summer. While I whole-heartedly respect an individual’s right to withhold from drinking, it’s a bit more of a party when everyone decides to let loose. It may be hard to tempt guests to drink but it can be easier by enticing them through the fun of drinking games. No – not the drinking games you’re thinking of where everyone ends up plastered face down on the floor – drinking games that are gentle, harmless and everyone can join in on, even if they’re sticking to soft drinks!
Visit domayne.com.au to see their range of outdoor lounges, sofas and couches and find the set that won’t break when ‘Drunk Jimmy’ trips over them on the way to the bathroom.

1. Beer Pong
From college students to seniors, everyone can have a go at Beer Pong as it is a test of many skills. Two teams must set up a formation of plastic cups filled with beer on either side of a table. Each team takes turns in trying to land a ping pong ball in these cups and if successful, the opposing team has to drink that cup of beer which was spiked! Even those who are sober can enjoy this game…they might even have an advantage with superior aim thanks to a clear head.
2. Buffalo
This game is a bit more low-key and can continue on all night! The aim of the game is to only drink from your less dominant hand. If you’re caught drinking with your dominant hand, you have to finish your drink! Domayne’s exclusive Solana 6-Piece Outdoor Modular Lounge is framed with stain resistant wicker with plush upholstery to comfortably seat eight guests. With its side facing arrangement, you can keep an eye on your opponents all night and catch them when they least suspect it.
3. Never Have I Ever
A great way to test the boundaries is with the game of Never Have I Ever. One guest poses a statement to the group saying something they have never done in their life. If another guest has done it themselves, they must drink, making it public to the group.
4. Most Likely
With this game, one guests asks the group any question about who would most likely be involved with something in their life, for example, “Who is most likely to end up rich?” The rest of the group must then vote and whoever gets the most votes, drinks!
5. Mr. Freeze
At the start of your party, one guest is chosen to be Mr. Freeze. At any point in the night if this guest ‘freezes’ everyone else must freeze as well. The last person to notice this and freeze must finish their drink.
6. Buzz
This game is a test of mathematics as guests must count up from one around the circle while replacing the number seven or multiples or seven with the word ‘BUZZ’. If someone slips up and gets it wrong, everyone takes a drink! This hasn’t always ended well for my guests when I join in thanks to my inability to recall learning my times tables so a quality outdoor setting helps me to keep grounded. The Fullerton 3-Seater Outdoor Lounge is a great example of outdoor furniture that can stand the test of time….and of drunk Jimmy! This set is made out of PE Wicker and is coated in powdered aluminum that you don’t have to worry about it becoming weathered while you’re nursing your hangover.
7. Drunken Artists
Each guest takes a turn at being the artist. The time keeper whispers to the artist what to draw and it is up to the other players to try and guess what thrive drawn. For every twenty seconds that pass, the artist must take a drink as a penalty until their image is guessed correctly.
Even though drinking games are normally associated with a toxic amount of alcohol consumption, not all games need to be like that. By enjoying harmless drinking games you can ensure your guests will have a good time but don’t feel pressured to drink just to join in. Be careful though, some of these games could last hours, so arm your guests and yourself with a quality outdoor set and compete through the night with a fun atmosphere everyone will love.
