We all know that the Queen travels all over the world and that she always stays at the most luxurious and extravagant places there are. In England, she also dwells in London or near it, so, the two most usual destinations are grandiose palaces, i.e. Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle. However, these are not her favorite places to be in. the most famous one is not even located in England. It is located in Scotland, i.e. in Royal Deeside, Aberdeenshire.
This is the royal residency in Scotland and it is a huge estate that has 50,000 acres. We should also mention that most of the estates and things are not owned by the royal family by itself, but by the crown. The only two exceptions are this castle and Sandringham House which is located in Norfolk.
Balmoral Castle
We should mention that this estate became the property of the royal family in 1852 when it was bought by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. We should also add that the caste has been redecorated and renovated and that most of it was actually destroyed and built from scratch.
Staying there
We should also say that the royal family uses to spend a lot of time during summers here even though it is not as luxurious as the Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle. The reason for this is simple. This place is not located near cities and it is not haunted by paparazzi and photographers from all over the world. This is the place where the Queen can enjoy in simple things and routines.
Over the years, it does not seem that the Queen got bored of this place. She constantly goes there. Some members of the royal family have also stated that the Queen loves that place and feels very happy there.
Tourist attraction
In order to be accessible to public which would have the opportunity to see the favorite place of the Queen, the Balmoral Castle is open to tourists from around the globe but only at times when the royal family is not there.
