It’s a boy
The news was broken via official royal Instagram account, saying:” “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed their firstborn child in the early morning of May 6.” The baby weighed in at 7 lbs 3 oz. There were a few more details provided. Meghan gave birth at 5:26 am with Prince Harry by her side. Her mother, Doria Ragland, is with her at Frogmore palace.
Name and pictures to be released soon
Prince Harry talked to the press, expressing his admiration: “How any women does what they do is beyond comprehension.” He also revealed that they still don’t have a name, promising that they will come up with one in the next few days.

Many celebrities have expressed their congratulations via social media and the royal Instagram made the following statement: “The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Lady Jane Fellowes, Lady Sarah McCorquodale, and Earl Spencer have been informed and are delighted with the news.”
Michel Obama also chimed in, saying: “Congratulations, Meghan and Harry! Barack and I are so thrilled for both of you and can’t wait to meet him. #RoyalBaby.”
Did Meghan have a home birth?
Both Meghan and Harry stated that they want to keep the birth of their child as private as possible. The fact that Meghan was overdue slightly complicated their plans, however.
Although there is no official confirmation, it appears that Meghan did get home birth after all. Meghan and her mother are at Frogmore Cottage, which is a big clue that birth also happened there and not in a hospital. It is unlikely that the new mother would be released from the hospital after just a few hours.
Another clue is that the official post in front of the Buckingham Palace hasn’t been signed by a doctor. We will probably learn the truth in the next few days.
