Bluetooth Mouse

According to Kathleen K. Mosby, the best thing about the Bluetooth mouse that makes it stand apart from other mice is that it directly connects to your computer via Bluetooth. You just need to pair it to connect to your PC and start using it. To use a Bluetooth mouse, your computer should have a Bluetooth driver and also make sure it works straight and smooth. If you have the driver and its functioning properly, then you can connect your Bluetooth mouse quite easily. The other advantage of using a Bluetooth mouse is that you do not need any port to connect it so if you do not have an extra port, then choosing a Bluetooth mouse is always a good option.

Wireless Mouse

The wireless mouse works on radio frequency to get connected to your computer. A dongle is connected to the USB port as a receiver for your wireless mouse. To switch on or off your wireless mouse, you need to insert batteries in your mouse. The wireless mouse only depends on the transmitter comes with the mouse. If you lose or misplace the dongle, then your device is of no use as you can’t get the replacement of the receiver.

Bluetooth Mouse Vs. Wireless Mouse

Now that you know about the Bluetooth and wireless mouse, it is the time to get the answer to your question ‘are Bluetooth mice better than wireless’. The wireless mouse comes in two varieties – Bluetooth technology and radio frequency (RF). Let’s take a look at the difference between both.

Connection/ Setup

When it comes to connecting the mouse to your computer, there is a notable difference between the Bluetooth mouse and wireless mouse. The Bluetooth mouse can easily be connected to the built-in receiver as it uses a special transmitter to connect to your computer.

On the other hand, the wireless mouse comes with a dongle that needs to be connected to a USB port. Plus, you need to insert batteries to make your wireless mouse works. Once you successfully connect the wireless mouse, you are ready to go. To make the Bluetooth mouse works, your computer or laptop must be supporting Bluetooth.

Support Equipment

The Bluetooth mouse works with any Bluetooth enabled computer. You do not need any extra equipment. For a wireless mouse, you need to connect your mouse to the computer with the help of dongle, and without the dongle, you can’t use your wireless mouse.

Power Consumption

It is the fact that the battery life of the mouse depends on the features and usage. The Bluetooth mouse and wireless RF mouse use AA and AAA batteries, and these batteries are non-rechargeable. You can easily get batteries from any nearest vendors or shops. Some users of Bluetooth mouse believe that as it requires two-way communication, they need to keep their mouse ON to maintain a connection. If you disconnect it, then you need a couple of seconds to reconnect the mouse. On the other hand, the RF mouse never disconnects even when the computer sleeps. The Bluetooth mouse consumes more power than the wireless RF mouse.
