This spot is located on the east coast of New Zealand, and it is an breathtaking location to be at every single day during the sunset. The skies are bright orange and yellow, the water is calm, and the main attraction is the stone spheres which are said to be more than sixty million years old. Yes, sixty million.
Sunrises are pretty amazing as well, but it all depends on the weather because if there is a lot of wind, there will be large tides and the spheres might be covered in water, so you won’t be able to take a good photograph of them. If you are traveling to the east coast of NZ, and you manage to arrive at the Moeraki spot during a bright day with clear skies, prepare to make some amazing photos that will remain as the best ones in your collection.
2. Dunedin – St Clairs Beach

An about fifteen-minute drive from the center of the famous Dunedin City lies the St Clair Beach where you can spend hours wondering how nature manages to produce such amazing combinations of colors. If you manage to arrive at this spot during the sunrise period, early in the morning, you will get to see the beautiful pink and blue colors mixing into one breathtaking view.
The pole lines on both sides of the beach just make for an even better effect that looks stunning when you capture the moment with a camera.
If you want to enjoy the moment and “connect” with nature, take a walk instead of using your vehicle to get here. You’ll feel the calm yet powerful energy of the waves.
3. Wharariki Beach

Is it just we or New Zealand is filled with breath-taking beaches? There are many other locations that you can visit which are not beaches, but oh do these deserve to be on the top of our least. On the number three spot, we have the Wharariki Beach, a spot located very close to the northern tip of the south side.
The location is very recognizable due to the huge rocks in the middle of the water which cover the sun right as it rises or sets during two different periods in the day. If you want a brighter photo, visit here during the sunrise. If you want a deeper and emotional shot, sunset is a perfect time. Do you know what the best part of this location is? If you are lucky enough you will spot some seals around the place, and they’ll just enhance your photography even more.

4. Roy’s Peak

Under Roy’s Peak lies the famous Lake Wanaka, a place that you have to visit if you are a fan of nature and photography. However, you don’t have to take those “boring” shots of the lake from a normal human perspective. Instead, you can climb on either Roy’s Peak or the one next to it called Coromandel Peak, which in all honesty is a bit more difficult to climb. When you finally get there, however, you can take an amazing photograph from above. This location allows you to see all the smaller islands in the lake, and it’s truly a mesmerizing sight.
5. Nugget Point

Did anyone mention lighthouses? Whenever we think of a lighthouse, we imagine that a movie-like shot in which a lighthouse is located on the top of a cliff, with an ocean or sea spreading right under it. Well, we would like to inform you that these shots are not just in movies, and you can take photographs of this kind if you visit Nugget Point. This location is not very far away from the waterfalls located in The Caitlins, so if you are visiting them, you can see this place as well.
Just like some of the other locations mentioned above, the best time to be here is during sunrise, because the lighting makes for the best scenery combined with the lighthouse on the top of the rocks. You can take many different angles, but the most popular one is from the bridge that connects the cliff with the area behind it.
6. Okarito – NZ West Coast

Last but not least, we think that this location will most likely be the best one you’ve visited so far. Okarito is a spot where you can find a pebble beach that is very long and doesn’t have anything else on it, besides pebbles. It might sound dull at first, but once you get there prepare to have your breath taken away. There is a huge rock at the end of the beach, and the sunset makes the entire sky look red, lighting up the sand and the pebbles as well. The scenery is very dramatic and makes for one of the best landscape shots ever.
