This place is located west of Lake Tahoe and it is crisscrossed by hiking trails and a huge number of lakes. You will find lakes of literally all the sizes. Anyway, the size of the entire “playground” is 64000 acres.
It is good to mention that this place is surrounded by trailheads on all four sides. That’s why you will have to spend some time on finding the best possible access. You do not have to worry about getting lost. This playground maybe seems like a place for something like that, but that simply won’t happen. Previous visitors found a way to mark the right trail with rocks.

3. Whiskeytown Lake

Well, we know that this place contains a type of alcohol in its name. However, that doesn’t mean it is famous because of the alcohol. It is a great place for parents to relax with their kids.
The lake itself is wonderful. You will wait for the morning to start to enjoy the scenes that you can see. Despite that, there are many activities that you and your family can enjoy. After a long day, people usually worm in front of the fire pit.
There are three activities that you can do. We are sure that the entire family will be happy because of kayak and paddleboard. Despite that, swimming in a crisp and crystal clear water of the lake is something you will enjoy for sure.
Still, if you come with friends, this place can be quite fun. For start, handing out in the shallow water along the shore is already an entertaining activity. Yet, we suggest you take your boat out and find some awesome cliff jumps. It is obvious why we do not suggest this to people that come with kids. This is an entertaining activity. However, it is also dangerous. You need to be careful and ensure that the water the cliff is deep enough. It is not the point to get hurt, right?

4. Lassen Volcanic National Park

Believe it or not, there are near 500 campsites that you can use for any kind of experience. You will find those that have flush toilets, while others contain vault toilets. Despite that, you will find campsites with pay shower and laundry facilities as well.
It is hard to describe how gorgeous the entire park is. Still, there is one unique thing that this park offers and that is elevation. All the campgrounds are found between 5700 and 6800 feet. Because of that, they open later than most others in the area.
The important thing that we need to mention is specific weather. When the sun goes down, it can happen that the temperature in summer nights doesn’t go below 30 degrees Celsius.
Keep in mind that this part of the country has a special place in the hearts of North State residents. It is some sort of symbol of this part of the United State and California.
