Perfumes have been around for thousands of year and believe it or not even the Ancient Egyptians used natural fragrances at their time. Nowadays, the perfume industry is one of the most popular out there and almost anyone you know has at least a perfume or two in their collection. We use perfumes as an addition to our style, to attract others or lift our confidence, and with a variety of different perfumes, we can find the one that suits our preference.
With thousands of different types and hundreds of different brands, you can buy good perfumes at reasonable prices. Now, it all depends if you are a fan of trendy perfume or you are more interested in natural fragrances and a smaller company that produce the same. Still, in whatever group you are sure that there is a perfume just right for you. But how to know that and what to look at when buying the perfect perfume? Let’s go ahead and take a look at the few particular points that you should consider.
Consider Your Budget
First and foremost, as with everything else, your budget plays a huge role. It is a fact that you can find perfume for $20 and you can find one for $2000. It all depends on how big your budget is, are you buying the perfume for yourself or as a gift, and of course how much is a good perfume worth to you. We are not saying that only branded perfumes are good, on the contrary, you can find nice fragrances for much lower prices – we are just saying that it is the first step you should take before moving on.
Decide On The Scent
Once you have figured out how much you are willing to spend, you should filter out potential perfumes by deciding on the scent. If you are buying it as a gift be sure to inform yourself on the type of smell they like. There are certain brands like acqua dell’elba that produce perfumes at almost any scent meaning that you will not have a hard time picking the right one. Now, there is a variety of different scent groups. If you like how freshly cut flowers smell, then you should go for floral/sweet perfumes. On the other hand, citrus and fruity perfumes are excellent for summertime, while oriental/spicy and woody/chypre perfumes that do contain accents of bergamot, vanilla, cinnamon, etc. are great for winter and autumn time. Of course, no one says that you shouldn’t wear a winter perfume during the summer season – it is just that certain scents and accents fit better in a specific atmosphere.
Choose The Concentration
Once you are sure on the scent you like, it is time to decide on concentration. This again depends on your budget as the more concentrated a fragrance is the higher the price. First of there is the perfume (simply called) – and it is the most expensive and longest lasting one (up to a whole day from just a few sprays). After a perfume, comes Eau de perfume that has a 15-18% of concentred oil mixed with alcohol. Eau de toilette comes on the third place and it can last you for around 4 hours with oil concentration ranging from 4 to 8%. Last but not least is the cheapest option with only about 3% of oil mixed with water and alcohol called Eau de cologne.
Summary
Choosing the right perfume can be pretty fun if you have enough time and will on your hand. And it is important to do so as a good perfume may have numerous benefits – raising your confidence, attracting people, and complementing your overall style!
