Queen Elizabeth and Kate Middleton’s recent visit to King’s College in London was particularly interesting for the public eye because this was the first time these two appeared together solo. And it seemed that the Queen took the opportunity to show how much she supports her granddaughter-in-law and how much she cares for her.
Even though she’s been the most-talked about a member of the royal family for several years since she married Prince William in 2011, Kate Middleton has been replaced with the arrival of the new Duchess – Meghan Markle. Kate Middleton was always a private person who liked keeping things to herself, but still, her every move was followed by photographers. Now that Meghan Markle became a new member of the royal family as a biracial American actress and divorcee, it’s no wonder the focus of the public eye has shifted from Duchess of Cambridge to her.
However, it seemed that Queen Elizabeth used their recent visit to King’s College as a chance to help Kate get some recognition back, which was due to happen, given that she is married to the future king and is the mother of a future heir. Namely, normally, there would be at least one more royal family member to accompany the Queen to such an occasion, but this time, she decided to give Duchess of Cambridge the spotlight.
According to the website Best Life: “Her Majesty is aware of all the attention her relationship with the Duchess of Sussex has gotten and all the media attention she is receiving surrounding her pregnancy. The queen thought this would be a good time to offer the Duchess of Cambridge a public show of support. She is very fond of her.”
During their visit, they took a tour of the school’s research facilities and met a few entrepreneurial students. And all that time, they seemed to enjoy each other’s company quite a lot, and they even shared a blanket in the car.
According to another source, “The Queen is very pleased by the way in which Catherine conducts herself, supports William, and is wonderful with their young children. She never seeks to be the center of attention which is something Her Majesty admires about her.”
While it took several years for the Queen to finally allow Kate Middleton to accompany her by herself, that was not the case with Meghan Markle, who went to an engagement alone with the Queen only about a month after she entered the royal family. Some rumors suggest that this is because the Queen and Duchess of Cambridge didn’t get on that well while Kate was still Prince William’s girlfriend, and it took them some time to work on their relationship.
Whatever the case, now Queen Elizabeth supports both her granddaughters-in-law equally and seems to care for both of them the same.
