Have you ever thought of cleaning the floor and carpets? If you notice, it takes hours to finish an entire lane. Sweeping the corners is a challenging task because every narrow surface is unreachable to clean. That’s why most households have their appliances at home, such as vacuum cleaners.

It takes only a few minutes to clean up the floor and carpets using this tool. A vacuum contains a suction feature that absorbs all dirt, dust, and debris on any surfaces. Some people are using this tool to clean their upholsteries and car’s carpets.

However, its frequent use will make the tool vulnerable to obsolescence, wear, and tear. If you use a vacuum most of the time, you should also learn how to keep it maintained. Consider plotting a schedule to clean your appliance. To know more about it, check out the tips below:

When using the vacuum, you should monitor the dust bag. Make sure to leave airspace so that the debris will circulate properly in the machine. In this way, it will keep the bag from bursting and getting full.

Moreover, you must change the dust bag regularly to prolong the life of the equipment. Since these waste storages are expensive to replace, you should use a reusable one. You can also come up with an improvised dust bag for practical purposes. To create it, you need the following materials:

  • Old t-shirt or drafty material
  • Zipper
  • Scissors
  • Needle and Thread or Sewing Machine
  • Rubber or Soft Vinyl

Use measuring devices to imitate the dust bag perfectly and fit it on your machine.

In this way, you can preserve the vacuum cleaner and prevent it from any wear and tear.

Aside from the belt, you must also need to check the filters. According to Vaccuumspot, you should replace it for at least every six months. You may extend its life if you clean it regularly. Furthermore, make sure to change the foam so that the dirt and dust will not go back to your room.

As an important note, you should keep the vacuum clean and clog-free. If you know how to maintain it well, it increases the useful life of the machine.  As a summary, here are the things that you need for the cleaning:

  • Brush tool
  • Dishwashing liquid or fragrant and mild detergent
  • Scissors
  • Microfiber cloths

There are three things that you need to clean thoroughly, namely the filter, canister, and base plate. You need to learn how to disassemble the parts of the machine. Then, you may now proceed with the maintenance.

First, you need to use the brush tool and microfiber cloth to remove any hair, dust, animal fur, and other particles. If there are any clogged debris, you can use the scissors to cut any tangled hair or animal fur. Next, you can use soap and water to clean the canister and filter. After that, make sure to dry up the parts properly to prevent the equipment motor from getting damaged.

Lastly, make sure to wipe the dusty appearance of your vacuum cleaner. You can moisten the fabric and polish the machine as well.

You need to check your surroundings first before using the vacuum cleaner. Sometimes, there are small objects that can enter the machine, such as coins, pins, or clips. These items can get stuck in your vacuum, may cause loud noises, and even cause damage to your tool.

As a quick tip, you can sweep the floor first before using a vacuum. By doing so, you will be able to observe whether there are any small items on your tiles or carpets. If you’re cleaning the upholstery and cushions, make sure to check first the surfaces whether there are any tiny objects misplaced. You can also use magnets in case there are sharp and small objects such as needles, thumbtacks, staples, etc.

Furthermore, make sure to store the machine in a suitable place. You should avoid placing heavy equipment on top of it.

To clean it properly, you can start checking the hose, vacuum head, rod, and dust bag. You can use brush tools, thin sticks, and scissors to remove the tangled hair and threads. If these areas are clog-free, it’s now the time for you to check the interior part.

Sometimes, these small items can even reach up to your machine. To prevent this scenario from happening, you should go back to the first bullet and position your dust bag properly.
