Having shiny floors is one of the first things that somebody who walks into your home will notice. They just give you that amazing feeling of care and tidiness. And it feels so awesome to walk on them, you basically feel your feet sliding on them.

However, having shiny floors at all times can be a little tricky. Especially with all the dust that falls on the ground each day. If you really want to preserve that amazing look of clean, shiny floors, you’ll need to put some work into it. Or, you can try and use some of our tips. In this article, we’re covering everything that you need to know in order to make your floors shiny and polished once more. Let’s begin!

  • Keeping your floors shiny
  • Be really careful with your cleaning methods
  • Another very useful method
  • Take everything in moderation

Keeping your floors shiny

The key to keeping your floors shiny at all times is knowing very well what material they are made of and what’s their finish like. Is your floor solid or maybe engineered hardwood that has been sealed with a polyurethane or polyacrylic urethane finish, or it simply is finished with a paste wax? Knowing all of this information will help you choose the right tools to make your floors regain their shininess, just like they were in the first months after you bought them.

You really need to be careful with your cleaning methods because forgetting to dust mop or vacuum your floor before doing a normal mop, will make more harm than good. By using a dirty mop or forgetting to do some of the things mentioned above, you’re basically re-distributing the dirt that has been on your floor, and it still remains there. Make sure to completely eliminate all dust and dirt from your floors, regardless of what methods you choose for that, and then use a wet mop to really clean them. Make sure your mop is also clean, otherwise you’re just making your floors even dirtier.

Another very useful method

A very well-known and useful method is the floor sanding. Sometimes the wood just needs some polishing and some mopping and water will not do the job. Many people don’t like this method because of the mess it makes, but we have a very good recommendation if you’re looking for dust-free floor sanding. Their service will make sure that your wood looks as clean and polished as it was when you first bought it, or they will make it look even better.

Take everything in moderation

Sometimes the products that you’re using are doing more harm than good, simply because you’re applying too much from them on your floors. Those floor polishing pastes are sometimes pretty solid, but it doesn’t mean that your floors will shine more if you apply the entire package at once. More is not always better, remember that.

After doing a wet mop to your floors, the job is not over yet. Most people tend to leave it like that, but that’s just half of the job done. After your wet mopping, you need to do a dry mop as well in order to ensure maximum shininess.
