Friday was a dark day for much of the country, as Donald Trump was sworn in as the 45th president. While lots of people took to the streets of Washington D.C. to protest the new commander in chief, others tried to find some solace in avoiding the news as much as humanly possible and trying to trick themselves into thinking it’s still Jan. 19 and Obama is still in the White House. If you fall into the latter category, here are some cute puppy gifs to make you a tiny bit happy, if that’s even possible.
There’s really no avoiding the simple facts that Trump is now president and everything is terrible. But, that doesn’t mean you can’t attempt to find a little beauty in life to keep yourself from falling into a deep despair. That’s where puppies come in (and alcohol, but we can only provide one of those right now, unfortunately).
You shouldn’t feel bad about not wanting to engage with anyone or anything on this dreadful Inauguration Day or drowning your sorrows in ice cream, wine, and cute animal gifs. Do whatever you can to stay sane and somewhat hopeful. If that means staying in bed all day and looking at adorable videos and photos for hours on end, then so be it.
