Andrew David Morton is an English journalist that is best known for his in famous biography of Princess Diana. Another book he authored is Meghan: The Hollywood Princess
A couple of days ago Fox News reported that Andrew David Morton gave some ambiguous compliments to Meghan Markle in an interview. He said that Meghan Markle’s career as an actress was a failure before her role in the show “Suits”.
The biographer’s backhanded comments about Meghan Markle
“Let’s not forget that, for ten years, her budding career as an actress was something of a failure,” That’s what he said in a documentary called Meghan & The Markles: A Family At War. “For almost a decade, Meghan auditioned for parts in movies, ads and game shows,” said Morton.
“She was kind of, at 30, over the hill, in Hollywood terms, when she got this gig in ‘Suits,’” he continued. “The fact that she kept on going on, the fact that she went to all these rehearsals and auditions without the prospect of work showed that kind of determination that her father imbued in her and that has propelled her to where she is today.”
Andrew David Morton’s book about Meghan
When we look into Morton’s past it hasn’t been all negative when it comes to Meghan Markle. In his book on the Royal he says that she has a big heart and that she had the spirit of an activist a long time before she even had a thought about becoming a royal.
“What surprised me the most was… how she, very early on, became an activist. At the age of 10, she was organizing protests against the Gulf War, for example. How she wrote to Procter & Gamble to complain about their sexist advertising and in doing so, they changed their advertising,” said Morton.
“She felt like she could make a change… She was far more than an activist. This was somebody who was involved in demonstrations [at school] and writing messages of complaint to companies… Meghan helped pursue petitions. I think all that unites the two women is the fact that both have a moral compass.”
Meghan Markle has always been the one to stand up to bullies
He talked about how she has always been there to stick up for the little guy and she was much, much younger. In school she was known for always standing up to bullies.
“She would be the one who stepped in,” he said. “And people remembered that. Those who were bullied remembered that. It was Meghan who was there, stepped in and was a role model. People say she wants to be the new Diana, [but] she actually wants to be the new Meghan.”
