Slowly, but surely, a lot of people are switching from regular cigarettes and smoking tobacco to vaping. The reasons why they are switching are quite obvious. It is convenient, it is cheaper and it is several levels healthier. Since quitting tobacco is not easy, it is so much easier for people to switch instead of quitting entirely. Unfortunately, people seem to be forming a lot of misconceptions about vapes. This makes the transition from tobacco to something healthier much longer. To get rid of that misinformation, we have to figure out where it comes from.
However, if you are planning on quitting tobacco and switching to vaping, it is normal to be skeptical. It is a good idea to ensure that you are making the right choice. Ensure that you will be leading a healthier lifestyle than before.
To help you with that and to help every one else that wants to make a similar transition, I will try to debunk all of those myths with legitimate facts.

1. Vaping leads to tobacco
One of the most common things I have heard about vapes or any kind of electric cigarettes is that they will lead people into something worse. I have heard a lot of people refer to this as a gateway addiction. Parents are afraid that if teenagers start to use vapes, they will quickly transfer to tobacco, alcohol, weed, or something even more dangerous.
This may be true to an extent, but it is not the real problem that causes teenagers to switch over to more serious addictions. In fact, alcohol or tobacco are much more addictive than any kind of e-cigarette. These two things are so much more accessible everywhere. Sure, there are rules and regulations against selling tobacco or alcohol to minors, but that is a rule that is commonly ignored.
However, if you are an adult and if you start vaping without any kind of smoking experience before, I am certain that you will not get any kind of interest in tobacco. I think that even if you try tobacco, it is going to taste awful and you also feel awful. These two things are very different.
2. They can help you quit smoking
I am not exactly sure why so many people are against this new and developing industry. It could be a campaign from the tobacco industry trying to bring back people to start smoking regular cigarettes again. But, that is just an idea, it does not mean that is true.
Because of people’s aversion towards this industry, they claim things that are absolutely not true. Claiming that electronic cigarettes cannot help you to quit regular smoking. This is very far from the truth because there have been several studies showing that people have a much easier time stepping down from tobacco once they switch to vaping.
Of course, this is not a universal solution for everyone. It will not work on everyone, but it does work on certain people.
If you are trying to quit cigarettes and you cannot seem to do so, maybe you should consider getting one of those stronger vape kits or mods and e-liquids with a nicotine-like taste as suggested by Dashvapes. This could make your transition a little bit easier because you are tricking your body thinking that you are smoking tobacco.
Once you pass the difficult period, you can swap to a less powerful vape kit and a lighter e-liquid.
3. Passively inhaling vape smoke is harmful
In many countries around the world, there are tons of rules and regulations against smoking in enclosed areas. Office buildings, restaurants, coffee shops, hospitals, and many other private or public spaces have made smoking tobacco completely illegal. This was done because passively inhaling smoke from tobacco is quite harmful. Why should innocent bystanders suffer consequences because of smokers?
Once vaping was introduced to the world, most of the users were allowed to use vape kits or mods inside buildings. It was or is allowed because the smoke released is just vapor or aerosol. It is basically water. It is not harmful at all.
Unfortunately, a lot of smokers are against this idea. This might be out of spite and jealousy, I don’t know, but they are trying to spread misinformation that passively inhaling vape smoke is dangerous.
Do not worry, that is not true because tons of studies have been done and there is no proof that vape clouds pose any kind of danger to those around you.
4. It’s expensive
Another myth you may commonly hear about vaping is that it is expensive. That may be true for some people, but for a smoker, it definitely isn’t. If you do the math, it will become quite apparent that smoking regular cigarettes is much more expensive long-term.
Sure, getting a high-end vape kit or mod is not cheap. They can go up to $200 or even more. But, once you have the device, refilling it is quite affordable. There are tons of different e-liquids available whose prices can be anywhere between $5 and $50. One bottle of an e-liquid can last you for weeks or sometimes even months. It all depends on what kind of smoker you are.
In comparison, the average cost for one cigarette pack is around seven dollars. But, in countries such as the United Kingdom, United States, or Australia, the average cost of a cigarette pack is probably around $25. Considering that there are people that go through one pack in one day, you can imagine how much money they are wasting every year.
If those one-pack smokers switched to vaping, they would probably cut their smoking costs by half. So, to put an end on this misconception. The truth is that vaping is not expensive at all when compared to regular smoking.
Once you get more familiar with the world of vaping, you will find even more and more myths and misconceptions about it. The ones I mentioned above are the most common ones you will hear. But, with articles such as this one, there will always be someone to debunk those myths.
