Does Prince William have the title of the knight?
Titles are significant in the royal family, and the title of the night is considered one of the noblest ones. Therefore, it requires recognition from Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Charles. Commonly we hear about outstanding British citizens getting this title due to their contributions to society, but on the contrary, we don’t hear about the members of the royal family’s own knighthoods.
Accordingly, Prince William is a knight. He has the title of a Knight of the Most Ancient and Most Noble Order of the Thistle, which he got in Scotland. Besides, his title in England is the Royal Knight Companion of the Most Noble Order of the Garter.

This title was set by King Edward III in 1348. The number of spots is limited to only one monarch, Prince Charles, and 24 members (aka companions). New members are appointed by the Queen herself, on St. George’s Day, while St. George is considered the order’s patron saint.

The Order of the Thistle is as important as the Order of the Garter. It is Scotland’s order of chivalry. The roots of the order are unknown, but there is a rumor suggesting it dates back as far as 809 or earlier. Meanwhile, the founding date is considered to be in 1688, when King James VII of Scotland proclaimed its revival.
