Diana is now remembered all over the world as a person who had one of the most popular weddings in the world, which was followed by a bad marriage without love and respect. She has also been known for many charities that she did and her effort to make the world a better place. Being a member of the royal family implied being private and not saying everything in front of the camera. However, Princess Diana publicly spoke about a lot of things that she probably should not have.

After her marriage to Charles in 1981, she became one of the most photographed women on the planet. She was also a topic of numerous articles and news. It should be also said that Charles may even become jealous of this popularity.

When she realized that she is suddenly under the spotlights of the press, she decided to use this popularity and attention she has so that she can address some important issues and mention the charity work that she does so that people can help.

Her emotional stability was in question due to several things. The first one was her relationship with the other member of the royal family, as it seemed that she did not fit there. Also, there was the infidelity of her husband with Camilla Parker-Bowles.

This was the year when she decided to speak and to share her life story and pain with the world. The person who interviewed her was Andrew Morton. Their interviews were recorded and then they were compiled into a book that got published in 1992 under the title Diana: Her true Story. She also had an interview about her personal life and hardships on BBC with Martin Bashir.

During these interviews and in the book, she was 100% open since he did not restrain from talking about anything in her life. She talked about the dysfunctional relationship that she had with her husband and about his infidelity. She also mentioned depression and bulimia that she has she also mentioned her bad relationship with other members of the royal family. She even talked about her personal love life. Many people think that the reason why she started to speak about everything in public was to show to the royal family that she is not afraid and to make them realize that she had been trying to share her problems with them but they did not listen.

Royal family

The royal family disapproved all this since the things should have been kept inside the family. These interviews and the book may be the reason why the Queen requested from Charles to divorce her.

It should be also noted that Princess Diana did not harm the royal family with these interviews, she also harmed her children and brought shame to them. This was especially true for William who was 13 and a teenager who was listening about her mother’s love life on TV. The most embarrassing for him was when his mother talked about her affair with James Hewitt, who taught William and Harry to ride horses. William spoke about this when he grew up and he said that he understood that the royal life may make you look isolated and lonely, but it is a very dangerous road to open yourself completely since then that doors cannot be closed anymore.

Her talking may have been bad at that time, but they brought changes in the royal family, and due to this her sons have married people they actually love. Diana helped in breaking and overcoming some of the old traditions and putting things into place.

She has even paved the way for Kate and Meghan who can now act more freely and have normal lives and duties. Unlike Diana, they have been officially prepared for their future lives, and this was done before the weddings. This was a very good thing to introduce them into the life they are about to lead so that they are ready and know what to expect.

The image of a normal woman is actually what the Queen herself has adopted since it is what the public and the people needed.
