What does the Inspection consist of?

This question is by far the simplest but is the most important because most homeowners don’t know much about a furnace inspection. The contractor or inspector should be able to give the homeowner a rundown of what to expect during the inspection. The homeowner should be aware of what is going on just in case a problem arises in the future.

What condition is my furnace in?

This is another basic question but one that should always be asked. The whole point of the inspection is to look for any damage to root out the problem before the issue increases. The inspector should be able to tell the owner what condition their furnace is in just by looking at it, but this is a good general question to ask.

Is this furnace running efficiently?

This question is there make sure your furnace is running at full capacity without costing you more in electric, power and water bill to maintain it. The goal of having any device especially a furnace is to make sure it runs efficiently, effectively without adding to the cost of maintenance.

Is there anything I can do to improve the furnace?

Usually, there is always something an appliance maybe a correction that can make your furnace work better even if it’s just by a small margin. This question will allow the inspector to give the homeowner some options on how to improve the efficiency of their device.

Are there any necessary repairs needed at this time?

The goal of any maintenance inspection is for the contractor or HVAC inspector to find those things that may need repair. This is still an excellent question to ask to avoid being blindsided by any future repair cost.

What type of maintenance can I do myself?

This question is very good because knowing the answer to this can save the owner thousands of dollars in repair bills each month. The HVAC inspector may suggest to clean the furnace regularly and to keep the vents clean free of debris and to watch for leaks.

Hopefully, these questions will help a homeowner in learning more about their furnace and what it can do for them, instead of what it will cost them.
