Recently there has been a lot of news about a young and successful photographer from California, Robert Voltaire. He is an amazing and very talented photographer that loves to take amazing photos of fashion models. Even if some people still haven’t heard about him yet, his work tends to speak for itself. Recently he sold one of his pieces of art called “The Dolphin” for about twenty-two thousand dollars. “The Dolphin” or originally titled “Il Delphino” is a black and white photo featuring the model Anna Grigorenko, facing her naked body towards the Mediterranean Sea while making a splash of water around her. Robert’s piece of art attracted a lot of art lovers and buyers and after a short period of time, it sold for a pretty amazing price. It was purchased by a Swedish buyer who unfortunately remained anonymous. The amazing thing about this skilled photographer is the fact that he’s self-taught and he draws the inspiration from cinematography and literature.
He photographed both clothed and naked models for pretty long time and if you visit his Instagram profile you can see all of the beautiful pieces of art that he produces. Voltaire states that photography is all about storytelling and fantasy. He also said that a photograph can never capture the person’s true beauty and that it is up to the viewer to fully discover and embrace it. Robert became a photographer at his young age, and it was simply by accident. When he was little, a friend asked him to take a picture of her friends and family. It seemed that he was pretty good at it and later he got asked by a friend that wanted to be a model at the time to help him with a photoshoot he needed for Ford. That’s when Voltaire got very lucky. The agent asked him to take a couple of test pictures and he ended up liking his work a lot. That’s where Robert begin building his career and progressing in the wonderful world of photography. Today, Voltaire’s work gets published by many world’s leading magazines. Some examples are Playboy, Vogue, Cosmopolitan and many others!
Robert’s skills don’t end there at all. He keeps surprising everyone with his talent and also made an appearance on the big screen as well. He showed up on America’s Next Top Model where he played the role of a photographer. Then, he appeared in “The Cycle 11” and photographed the finalists where one of them would become The Next Top Model and begin their career in fashion modeling.
The German Max Magazine named Robert Voltaire as a master of black and white photography. This is what he says about portraits: “Two keys to a portrait are simplicity and the subject. I prefer models who are comfortable in their own skin and willing to share their body and emotions as great actresses do. Photography is about storytelling and fantasy.”
