Russia is improving its relations with France by sending an Alsatian puppy to them named Dobrynya in a gesture of solidarity after the beloved Parisian police dog Diesel, a Belgian Shepherd, was killed in a raid north of Paris last Wednesday after terror attacks rattled the city and the whole country of France.
The puppy is named after a hero of Russian folk legend, Dobrynya Nikitch, famed for his strength, goodness and courage.
This is a cute gift and maybe it seems frivolous to talk about dogs when people have died, but in my opinion, focusing on dogs and positivity can add levity to a grave situation.
I want a little Russian Dobrynya for myself!
