Singer Ellie Goulding has everything going on, a new album release and a chance to perform in this year’s Victoria’s Secret fashion show, but her success did not come easy.
The 27 year old described many instances of sexism that got in her way on her rise to success, including the music industry being male-dominated, but also the way audiences view female pop stars in comparison to male pop stars.
The hit single “Love Me Like You Do” from her upcoming album “Delirium” (it was also on the Fifty Shades of Grey Soundtrack) talks about the double standard of one-night-stands.
Goulding is definitely a feminist and was quoted as saying:
[Huffington Post]“I call myself a feminist because it’s a word for someone who believes in equality. And yes, that’s something I absolutely believe in.”
