Marketing your business, services or products on social media sites like Instagram can be daunting if you don’t have lots of followers constantly on your feeds. Now, most Instagram ‘nobodies’ have one thing in common, a small number of followers which they aim to increase. They have the zeal and ability to do this but most times lack the insight on how to get on with it. Luckily, we’re letting you in on a marketing secret that’ll be sure to make your Instagram explode.

The $1.80 strategy

You may have heard or read about this somewhere. Now, this strategy is all about engagement and replies. To use this strategy, you’ll need to reply to people’s comments or comment on their posts via Instagram. Now, there may be a lot of questions concerning this summary, but we’ll break it down.

  1. First, go to the explore dashboard on Instagram.
  2. Click on search and type in the name of your city.
  3. Select places.
  4. Select your city.

Once you’ve carried out these four basic steps you can move on to the next phase. When you’ve selected your city, Instagram will show you all the posts that have been taken within your city, using its hashtag. This is where the work part comes in. Go through these posts, it may not be all of them, but a great number of them. Leave relevant comments on top and recent posts and all comments or replies need to be thoughtful.

An example

In essence, if you search Miami, Florida, we’re guessing you’ll see lots of beach-related posts, bars, sunny posts or pretty much anything. Depending on the context of the post, you’ll need to drop a related comment. If it’s a beach post you can comment ‘Cool waves’ or if it’s a gym post then commenting ‘nice abs, how long do you bench?’ would suffice. According to Socialyy, you’re trying to get the user’s attention with your comments and want them to be enticed enough to go to your profile. Once on your profile, your bio will explain what product or service you’re selling and interested users may follow or send you a message.

However, you may spend too much time commenting and replying to the comments on posts, just to get them to check out your profile. It’s a way of marketing that doesn’t actually ask users to do anything. After commenting on one post, you’ll need to repeat the process using at least 10 different hashtags and at a minimum of 9 posts per hashtag. In addition, you can also follow hashtags to remain up to date with the most relevant hashtags to your brand, according to Instasize.

In summary, using this strategy may seem like being the Mayor of the town, but once you start engaging in the comment sections, either the owner of the post or other people in the comments will want to check you out to see what you’re about. And once they do, your business page will be displayed to them and if they like what they see or require the product or service you’re selling, they could send you a message or follow you. Hence, Instagram Marketing. You gain clients and the number of your followers’ increases.

Disclaimer: This strategy involves an ample amount of time to yield profitable results. You may need to consistently invest 8-10 hours of your time every day into this for about 4 years, just to keep increasing the odds and creating awareness for your brand, which could lead to business deals.
