Serbia, January 16: while going back home to hang out with his friends, Zoran Pavlovic was informed that there was a dog ashore on the island of the Nisava river. Zoran and his friend immediately went there in order to try and aide this small dog, but they soon realized that they couldn’t rescue him with their bare hands.
They tried contacting all the pet rescue organizations in the region, but only one person answered their call for help. Sasa Pesic, a worker in a dog shelter in Nis, Serbia, was more than happy to assist them in the rescue.
Without thinking of his own well-being, Sasa Pesic got down the highway bridge and swam across the river to the place where the dog was.

After a couple of minutes hiding in the grass, the dog finally came out, and Sasa Pesic quickly grabbed him, and with the dog under his arm, and swam back to the overpass column.
He gave the dog to a man who was standing on a brick column, which served to support the bridge.
Then the chain of people helped the dog up the bridge and onto the road. In the end, they helped Sasa Pesic climb to his safety.
