Air pollution is one of the biggest problems that we as humans have to face. Due to the constant construction of factories, pollution of all kinds is heavily increased daily. Toxic waste is disposed of in oceans, junkyards are being burned, and factory chimneys just keep releasing the poisonous substances into the atmosphere. Air pollution is not something to take lightly, we only have one planet and we need to protect it. In some countries, the awareness is raising a lot and the penalties for not having the proper factory chimney filters are huge.
Not every one of us is a factory owner or someone who’s influential enough to make a big change when it comes to air pollution. However, believe it or not, we all play a big role with our everyday activities. In this article, we’re going to talk about the change we can make as individuals when it comes to air pollution.
The change we can make
There are several things that we need to take into consideration when it comes to air pollution. We may think that none of our actions play a role in pollution but sadly, that’s not true. Instead of driving thousands of cars all of which release toxins in the air, we can start using more public transport and contribute to the eco-friendly environment. Also, a bike is a pretty good decision. You’re staying healthy while not polluting our precious air. And if you must use a car, an electric vehicle is probably the best decision. Electric cars are getting even more and more popular lately solely because of this reason.
How to deal with air pollution
Now that we’ve already discussed prevention, it’s time to talk about what to do if you find yourself in a polluted area. Well, the most obvious and effective thing would be getting some air purifiers. They are quite inexpensive solutions and the best way to make sure you have fresh and clean air inside your home. Many successful companies, even if set up in areas with low pollution, have air purifiers in order to ensure maximum healthy circumstances for their employees. Schools start implementing them as well, especially elementary ones.
If you find yourself living in a dangerously air polluted area, consider buying and wearing a mask with a filter. Your health is what matters the most, after all, so don’t worry if people look at you strangely for wearing a mask.
Thinking green
Other tips would be to re-consider your actions when it comes to polluting in any way. Try to be as eco-friendly as possible. Use recyclable materials and recycle yourself as well. Re-using the materials used for manufacturing products helps a lot in the process of saving the Earth. Planting a tree is also one of the best things you can do. Sign petitions for building parks and be an eco-activist. Encourage your family, kids and friends to do the same. We need to serve as a good example to the youth.
