Top 6 Ways to Take Better Care of Your Teeth in the Most Natural Way

by The Frisky April 25, 2019

If you think it is bad you can’t smile like you want to with stained teeth and bleeding gums, wait until you find out that poor oral health is linked to heart disease and stroke.
Failure to take care of your teeth is not only painful but also fatal when bacteria from the mouth and gums go to your heart.
This is why dental care is more important than ever. But you don’t need to take care of your teeth the unnatural and inorganic way. There are better options.

How to Take Care of Your Teeth Naturally

1. Brush them at least twice a day

The common advice is to use toothpaste with fluoride.
While it is found naturally in food, water, and soil and is known to help prevent tooth decay, excessive exposure is linked to several health issues. These include dental or skeletal fluorosis where bones and joints are damaged.
No one wants that.
Toothpaste also contains other harmful ingredients.
● Sodium Lauryl Sulfate can irritate skin and cause canker sores.
● Triclosan is linked to hormone disruption, damage to the immune system, and development of germs that are resistant to antibiotics.
● Diethanolamine is believed to cause disruption in hormones.
● Propylene glycol helps prevent toothpaste from drying out. But it is also used in antifreeze and paints.
● Glycerin has been linked to potential toxicity in organs and can irritate eyes, lungs, and skin.
So imagine brushing your teeth twice a day every day for the next 60 years or so. The side effects are sure to add up.
So, instead of using regular toothpaste with fluoride, look for products with natural ingredients.
Look for those that contain an alkalizing natural formula that not only cleans and keeps your teeth stronger but also promotes oral health.

2. Floss everyday

In addition to brushing twice daily, it is important to floss daily. This is vital to avoid plaque buildup and to prevent gum disease.
There are many flosses available in the market but opt for a natural, unwaxed product. Stay true with natural dental care from Primal Life Organics and use dental floss that is not coated with petroleum by-product. This way, you will help ensure that no animals were harmed in its production.

3. Oil pull daily

This is a natural way to keep your mouth healthy and to whiten teeth rapidly.
Start with a tablespoon of sesame or coconut oil to swish in your mouth for 10 to 20 minutes. Both oils have antibacterial qualities that promote oral health.
On the next session of oil pulling, extend the amount of time swishing oil. The more you do this the longer you be able to do it.
Remember to spit the oil into a wastebasket instead of down the toilet or sink to prevent build-up and clogging.

4. Avoid teeth stains

If you avoid things that leave stains on your teeth, you won’t need whitening. Although there are natural and organic whitening products, it is best to stave off stains, to begin with.
● Brush your teeth after drinking a glass of red wine or a cup of coffee.
● Drink water in between drinking stain-causing beverages and staining foods like tomato sauce and beet.
● Use a straw when drinking staining drinks, such as cranberry or grape juice.
● Don’t smoke. Teeth stain is just the proverbial tip of the iceberg where smoking is concerned. It can have long-term effects on the rest of your body too.

5. Scrape your tongue

This can help reduce bacterial growth on the tongue that can result in bad breath. It also prevents gum disease, tooth decay, and tooth loss, among others.
Make sure to buy a stainless-steel tongue scraper as it is easier to clean.
Scrape your tongue first thing in the morning and run the scraper twice each time.

6. Visit your dentist regularly

Make sure to have your teeth deep cleaned every 6 months. Doing so will remove any tartar buildup that can lead to serious oral health problems.
Regular visits to your dentist will also prevent oral problems that would have gone undetected without regular checkups.
So stay up to date with your dental appointments.
Gift yourself and others with a smile
If you have healthy and great-looking teeth you will be more confident to smile more often. This releases endorphins that would make you feel good and make you more approachable.
Your smile can brighten someone else’s day too.
But the most important thing is that the health of your teeth and mouth is an indicator of your overall health. Remember that poor oral health is linked to heart disease and stroke.
Bad breath, on the other hand, is not only because of poor mouth health but may indicate a larger, underlying issue.
On that note, take good care of your teeth and mouth like you would with the rest of your body. But do it naturally to ensure that you’re not putting anything harmful in your mouth that can affect the rest of your organs.
