What Makes an Authentic Santa Claus Performer

As the holiday season quickly approaches, more and more families and corporate party planners are turning to authentic Santa Claus entertainers for their upcoming events. They want the very best—the real beard, big belly, and jolly demeanor. That’s not all that makes Santa authentic, though. At least, not what makes a performer these days.

So, what makes an authentic Santa Claus performer?

The Accessories

Donning the red suit and a white beard isn’t enough these days. The children want to see and feel the authenticity. They’ve read stories about Santa’s black belt, fuzzy red hat—all the pizzazz and accessories that come with the supernatural-like being that is Santa Claus.

According to Santa Allen, as far as accessories go, everything must match the stories—the belt, shoes, hat, buttons.

Surrounding Oneself

As a professional Santa Claus, being alone is not a big part of the job. Whether the event is being held in a busy mall, at a corporate event, or a home visit for a holiday party; being surrounded by people is all part of the gig. As such, Santa Claus should routinely and actively surrounding himself with children, adults, and even fellow performers to really sell the role.

Santa History

There are so many children who love to read. They also love the myth of Santa Claus—a true story in their eyes. As such, many children know a lot of the lore and history surrounding the jolly red man.

As a performer, Santa Claus should know the history of the myth, too. Knowing how to respond appropriately to questions about where Santa’s reindeer come from how the elves work can make or break the night for some children.

Don’t Oversell

It’s quite common for adults to underestimate just how intuitive and knowledgeable children are at times. Therefore, it’s smart for an entertainer to take this into consideration and try not to oversell the act or authenticity of Santa Claus.

For both children and adults, it’s crucial to create the perfect experience. As a Santa Claus performer, selling the role to everyone is important to keeping the night special and memorable. For that, doing your research and finding the right Santa Claus performer will make a world of difference to everyone involved.
