Rose Hanbury is 35 years old, and she is, or was, a close friend of Kate. Many describe her as a “royal-adjacent,” which means she is not directly connected to the Royals through a bloodline, but rather through her prestige, position, and money. In fact, she even has her own title, the Marchioness of Cholmondeley.
Her family owns property near one of the Windsor estates, and the two prestigious families are part of a group of close friends known as the “Turnip Toffs.” These people like to socialize and host events whenever they can, which are mostly garden parties or playdates with children. Rose Hanbury is married to David Rocksavage, and the pair has three kids.

The rumor of the supposed affair between her and William are the second half of a set of rumors. Everything started several weeks ago, when tabloids in Britain began reporting that Kate has a wish to “phase out” the Cholmondeleys from the aforementioned circle of friends, for still unknown reasons. Following this, rumors did not take long to start spreading, as the people thought there was a feud between the two ladies, and that Will might be cheating with Rose.

Several reasons are possible for this. First, the Crown often does not want to respond to the rumors, except in rare circumstances. This is because dozens of rumors surround the royal family all the time, and if they responded to them, the media relations employees of the family would have a ton of work each day.
When they address some of the rumors, these are usually vague and non-descriptive answers. For example, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were rumored to want to move to Africa. Here, the Palace officially responded that Harry would “continue to fulfill his role as Commonwealth Youth Ambassador.”
Therefore, not issuing is a sign that the rumor does not deserve any attention. This also means that if William decides to say even something brief like “this is all not true,” the family would admit the rumor was worthy of their time at least a little bit. For now, still, they are treating it as nothing special and not worthy of their attention and time.
