Last night, after I had dinner with a girlfriend, we weren’t quite ready to go home yet, so we stopped by a bar a few blocks down the street for a beer. The place was pretty crowded and we grabbed the last two seats at the bar. Just as we were sitting down, some guy in a polo shirt and backwards baseball cap came running over and said, “Hey, ladies, I was saving those seats for a couple of friends of mine.”

I shot him a nasty look, turned to my friend and said, “Let’s just get out of here.” I was already turned off by the numerous TV screens sportin’ football, and this d-bag pushed me over the edge. “Hey, hey, I was just kidding!” he said, suddenly aware that his “pick-up line” totally bombed. “But in all seriousness, folks, first beer’s on me.” And then, before we could even respond — or order that first beer — he disappeared into the crowd never to be seen again.
