7 tips on How to Design your Retail Shop

You have to be strategic when it comes to utilizing the space in your retail store. To make the most out of it, you have to design it smartly and organize your merchandise in a way that will serve your customers.

1. Use the walls

Here’s an interesting fact: you can make space look larger by painting a wall in certain colors. It is also an affordable way to refresh the place. You can achieve the same effect by putting a colorfully printed wallpaper on the wall. This will catch customer’s eye.

2. Add windows

Create an inviting display, by using a single-color theme. This will not only grab attention but communicate your store’s image. Also, avoid clutter. The spacious your store looks inside the more luxurious it will appear. Instead, display just a few items in the window. This way you are sending the message, that these items are special.

3. Use the space vertically

To maximize the space, display the items on different levels. The easiest way to achieve this is by installing shelving at different levels. Hanging drapes can also help you attract attention and create an illusion of a larger space.

4. Avoid clutter

Adding more merchandise while avoiding the cluttered look is an art. You can manage to do this by using neutral colors and larger items. Incorporate some items that will accent the spot, like pillows, or vases. Something small, in bright colors. Don’t gather all the products too closely together. The space should look neither empty nor cluttered.

5. Explore other ways to display

There is no doubt shelving is efficient when it comes to utilizing your wall space. But there are other space-saving ways to display items. Use your imagination and browse the web for ideas. Customers will appreciate your creativity and will keep coming back. Line up your brand’s message with the interior of the store and express yourself through it.

6. Appeal to multiple senses

You can use different technics to impact the senses of the buyers. Create a unique in-store experience that will separate you from the competition. By creating a calming atmosphere you will predispose the customers to buy your merchandise. Pick some nice music and be careful with the volume. You don’t want to create chaos, but rather harmony. It is also important to choose some neutral, but enjoyable scent.

7. Lighting

Lighting is crucial for every retail shop. If some part of it is not well lit, you can’t expect customers to visit it and buy the products displayed there. Use a mix of lamps, sconces, and other types of lighting to create a well-lit environment and to add flair.

It is not enough to put a couple of fixtures and shelving and to add your merchandise. To drive more customers you have to adopt out of the box thinking. Create something special and give your customers a unique shop experience. The result will be a massive success.
