1. Always study French with an audio

Spoken and written French are almost two different languages. There are many liaisons, glidings, and silent letter, and they are basically everywhere, including the grammar and verb conjugations. Even if you are studying grammar, playing an audio file will help you quite a lot as you go through the lesson.

2. Know your learning style

Do you need to listen or do you need to write? Or perhaps, you need to read in order to learn things by heart? Whatever your strategy for learning this language is, keep in mind that you should make sure that you adapt it to your learning style. Hence, studying French with audio is needed if you want to understand and speak French.

3. Try not to translate French into English

When you are just beginning, there will be some translations, however, try to avoid this as much as possible. Translating adds a big step in the process of speaking, and it makes your brain spend more energy and it is likely that it will fool you into making mistakes when the translation does not work.

4. Learn French in sentences

You should learn new words in a sentence. By doing so, you will learn in context and you will be able to remember the words for longer, and you will also have a series of words that you can use during your next French conversation.

5. Combined Related Vocabulary together

This is the same idea as learning this language from context. You should use larger flashcards, and on the same card, write all the related French words as you come across them. You will be able to get more information faster if you memorize it all together. If you want to see more information about flashcards, visit this website.

6. Do not try to learn everything at once, prioritize

Usually, in order to make the learning process more fun, we try to present a story or a text. Of course, if your memory is perfect, you can simply go ahead and memorize everything, however, if this is not the case, you will need to prioritize. For example, what words in a story are you most likely to use? First, you should focus on them, then you should revisit the said story once you have mastered the word list.

7. You should study regularly, not all in one sitting

If you study for a whole afternoon, it is likely that you will be exhausted and that you will lose focus, motivation, and attention. Spending 15 to 20 minutes each day learning French will give you better results than sitting for two hours.

8. Review! Repeating is the key

This is the number one mistake that a lot of learners make. You concentrate on learning something new, however, you forgot to review the old material. One rule that you should follow is – for each hour that you spend learning new things, you will need to spend one-hour reviewing old things. Repetition is the key to success!

Conclusion

By following the tips from this article, you will be able to make the whole process of learning the French language less overwhelming, less time-consuming, and less stressful for you. Hence, do not waste any more time and start making your perfect study strategy.
